Aluminum fender liners
Trying to gauge interest in custom aluminum fender liners for the 5th gen. These are popular with the Jeep crowd but for some reason not a thing with Toyota’s. Probably because no one makes them.
RCR4WD presently makes these out of mild steel which in my opinion is prone to rock chips damaging the powder coating with resultant corrosion. I am trying to get these guys to make them out of lightweight aluminum. As you can see, these offer significantly more protection than the stock liner.
I have no affiliation with the fabricator. I just want the product made.
Price point $299 if I can get 20 people interested. This spans other models that share the same platform including the 4th gen, FJ, and Tacoma.
Simply respond with your name.

Just to clarify and answer some questions raised. Stock liners cover 33% of the fender area. These cover 90% and decrease the amount of water, mud, snow, gravel thrown at the engine. Not to mention yes, there is an aesthetic component as these look pretty damn spiffy. These are designed to flex with rubber grommets used to mount these to the stock holes. No additional drilling. No metal on metal sounds or rubbing. There is no increase in pebble or road noise for road use. Obviously this will increase with off-road use.

What's with all the cutouts and extra bolts to hold on the filler plates? Just trying to look cool?
To be honest, I'd prefer them just be plain and black and save a little on the price, but I guess you can count me in either way.

I think they are just design. Potential to cut them out and apply a grille if you want more ventilation to the engine bay maybe? Will ask the fabricator

Agree. Offers additional protection to the engine and frame. Also looks pretty. Would be interested in bare aluminum but can imagine folks getting creative with anodizing these in any imaginable color...

There was a request for additional clearance for aftermarket UCA adjustment. The answer is yes. Additional clearance for those with aftermarket UCA’s will be available upon request.

I’d be in for a set but I like the first pic without all the cutouts. Just a preference.

I'm in for the version that accept aftermarket UCAs. Liners on my driver's side are 90% gone at this point. I like the idea of replacing them with metal components but didn't like the steel version. Aluminum sounds great.

That can definitely be done so will add you to the list! I will ask RCR to hash out the details in a bit. There are folks interested in replacing some of the cutouts with mesh or perforated aluminum for more radiator cooling, (allows more flow through the radiator), similar to the one pictured below. My guess is these will end up being somewhat customizable.

I don't understand. What is the function of these? Is the area not covered prone to some sort of problem? Or is this a cosmetic product?

I'd consider these just to not have my flaps hanging on for dear life by a bunch of busted/missing clips

I think we'd all agree that airflow is important. Just left the vented hood thread and realized this mod should decrease airflow through the engine and brakes, possibly increasing temps.
This mod looks cool, but has anyone thought about temps?

None of the pics show rigs with extended travel coil overs with the mounting bracket for the remote resi. Will it still work?
