So I can understand that point of view. My take is he addressed potential opposition to his idea right there in the thread title in an attempt to take the wind out of any flaming. Then I saw your 4? sarcastic laced posts so I decided to have some fun and take the other side.

Same. I have noticed it exactly once but it certainly wasn't terrible. Maybe people are wearing gas station sunglasses?
To the OP: do what makes you happy; half the people on this site are super helpful and awesome, the other half are just trolls with nothing better to do than rip people apart because they aren't carbon copies of themselves. The louvers could look cool properly done and would keep your engine compartment cooler.

It is vinyl wrap from a window tinting place. 125.00 installed with the front grill bar wrapped as well.

I haven't had a big issue with glare off of my scoop at all. Wife hasn't mentioned it about her's either. We do both wear high quality sunglasses though so maybe that helps.

Do what you like to your vehicle to make it yours. I get all kinds of haters and trolls for my choices in custom mods like my interior. But it makes me happy that I know there is not another 4runner on the road that looks like mine. I mean geez i see at least a dozen other 4runners every day driving around town.
It seems if there is not a youtube video on how to do something already or a 100 page thread by a senior member on a mod they decide to copy then it's crap to them.
I like this idea and I might play around with some ideas like this myself now. And this is a mod that yes you might spend some money on it but if you decide you don't like it it's pretty quick and easy to bolt a new hood back on and try something else

I'm 6', drive with my seat all the way back and all the way up, and the glare can get bad depending on where the sun is.

glare buster
I mentioned this in an earlier thread on this topic, but there is a guy on the Tacoma World forum that makes a vinyl overlay for 3rd gen Tacomas that will fit right on the 5th gen 4Runner. He has now started selling them marketed directly to 4Runner owners on ebay:
Toyota 4Runner Off Road Trail TRD Pro Hood Scoop Decal USA SELLER AntiGlare | eBay
My scoop is a combo of plasti dip on the "intake" part and his overlay in matte black. Pretty much solves the glare issue (probably more intense on white 4Runners) and I like the way it looks.

I also got my scoop overlay from the guy on TacomaWorld. Absolutely love its look and functionality. Nothing like driving 11 hours across the desert just to end your day getting blasted straight in the face by the setting sun and it's reflection.

glad I posted this. that thing posted where someone actually did put vents on a flat hood seems like the best route by far. it looks perfect as well. the vent I picked is way too long to fit on something that isn't a penis car with a super long hood. looks great on a camaro. but this idea of mine isn't something too important, but maybe one day, just bored. now that I have ditch lights mounted, my 4runner doesn't look so lame from the side. and now I see why the trd pro Tacoma has that flat black behind the hood scoop. im totally guilty of trolling in the past. when I had an evo I would take it to track days constantly and make fun of all those who would just take pictures. although I take a lot of pictures and only offroad on occasion

Is there statistical proof backing up this mind blowing contribution you just made to the discussion?

I’m 6’6” and all muscle, wear Italian sunglasses you plebs wouldn’t be even allowed into the store to LOOK at and I’ve never had issues with glare. Neither has my 6’0” supermodel girlfriend, that is when she’s stateside and not doing photo shoots in Ibiza.
