What do I need to learn to understand this better?

Changing the UCA to something with built-in caster would be the only recommendation, if not requirement, when lifting the vehicle. You will be back in factory specs after an alignment
Going with longer arms (Long Travel) isn't for everyone. Sometimes it requires fiberglass and typically requires a little bit more maintenance. Many customers don't want to deal with the longer shocks, control arms, axles, tie rods, etc.
