I just made the bump to 285/70 and notice a pretty big difference in highway performance with the trans hunting between 5th, 4th over, and 4th. I have found myself locking into 4th more often on slight inclines or when there's a headwind. A regear was not high on the list initially, but it's moving up now with the larger tires. If I decide to stick with the 285/70, I will likely regear at some point.

I should have gotten rid of the crappy stock Dunlops day 1, instead of 6 months in. K02's are a huge improvement in grip on and offorad, although they're a bit heavier.

Next up is Bilstein 5100s. I cannot stand the factory rake, and the nosedive under braking. Just feels unnecessarily sloppy.

Getting rid of entunes for my Android Auto unit, and having leather installed.

New speakers up front and sound deadening were nice, but the Head Unit was worth every penny.

After that, probably leather seats. It makes a world of difference in every day life, especially with two dogs that shed their weight in hair each month.

I just installed a 3/2 Dobinsons lift on mine. Looks great. 275s would supplement it perfectly. Im actually thinking of selling my 265 Wildpeaks and getting the 285s or 275s now

Just curious what your weight setup of wheel tire mod was to make the 285/70's make you want a regear; or even think of regearing at that point.
Isn't this what the thread is for? Things we wish we would have done earlier. Therefore you now have 3 people (so far) telling you re-gearing was something we wish we would have done earlier. I run SCS wheels (Stealth 8) and the 285/70/17 KO2s (load C). Those plus the weight of a roof rack (gobi), front and rear steel bumpers with swing out (CBI) and aluminum skids (RCI). With all of that combined I am very confident that my 4.56 re-gear was the one thing I wish I would have done sooner.

Sprint Booster and Xenon Depot HID lows both made a huge difference and I'd highly recommend them to any new 5th gen owner.

Agree on the HIDs or well performing LEDs for low beams. It is literally night and day in comparison with OEM. I wish I wasnt so apprehensive about drilling dust covers. Silicone sealant and the provided gasket for HIDs. Couldn't have made a better decision.

That's exactly what the thread is for! Not sure what the issue is! I didn't want to derail the thread too much by asking about more detail on why you (or they) wanted to regear since most people with 285/70's don't. Therefore i used PM to get in touch with them with questions once they replied. Maybe more than 3 will put regear and i can find out a little more from them as well. I'll leave it at that and thanks for your details as that helps me to decide if i want to regear since its something i was looking at possibly doing in the near future with some added weight!

This is the thread I need to be in. I have a stock 2015 TRD Pro and still trying to decide where to start with my first major mod. I have about $1300 (still saving) I have set aside for the 4runner but really struggling to make a decision! I was interested in a front bumper or some sliders but not sure if either of those are the smartest first choice. Any suggestions help, thanks guys!

Any particular reason you all are choosing 4.56 vs 4.10 for the new gears?

I get needing to correct for larger tires, but this is going pretty far the other way from stock. You would need 34.8" tires with a 4.10 to equal the stock gearing of 31.6" with 3.72 FD.

It would take 39s to get back to stock gearing with a 4.56 FD.
