WOW, all I can say is it is great to receive so much feedback and the amount of folks here that still have TE’s or have bought one. The 10-13’s are special 4runners as some of you have mentioned and ultimately my truck has been awesome with no issues since purchase 5-6 years ago. Reason I am even considering a newer one is I like the front fascia aftermarket bumper support and interior is a nice refresh. Additionally, since our 4runners hold so much value I can literally walk out the door with an 18 TRD Offroad premium with an ICON stage 5 lift, and 13k miles on the newer 4runner for a difference of 12k with a certified warranty up to 100k miles. I would only finance the difference since my TE is paid off however, reading thru your posts I am leaning towards keeping my TE, continue modding, adding aftermarket bumpers, suspension, and change the look of my truck. I have many memories made in my 4runner and has driven me to many places trouble free, knock on wood. Keep the pics coming fellas, it is awesome to see OG 10-13 4runners doing what they do best!

I just got this over the weekend. Love it. Has 110K on it and drives like new. Question, though. For all the people that have had them. Do you really service the trans at 100K? I'm coming from GM so that seems crazy.

Now you have to really put some time in on your decal lay out.....
Actually now that I think about it, I painted the exposed frame too.

I do what I like to call "overkill" maintenance on my truck. I have always done 5K oil changes, 15K diff flushes, and I changed the water pump, all the pulley belts, spark plugs, coolant and thermostat at 85K. I did the trans and transfer case service at 70K. Honestly, it's only a couple hundred bucks including labor and way less than that if you do it yourself, which in my opinion is a small price to pay to keeping your rig in tip top shape. I purchased the rig used with 60K, so it hasn't been treated this way all it's life lol.

I would say at a minimum, drain and refill. If you want a full service, drop the pan and replace filter and clean the magnets, and fill with new fluid. They say "lifetime" fluid, but most here agree that if you want your trans to last 300k, you should still service it. My personal interval is every 50k.

YES YES YES. I'm the same way. Learn to do your own maintenance, and stick to strict intervals. A few extra hours and a couple hundred bucks every year is cheap insurance.

You should see my excel sheet with all my maintenance records....

I bought at 2012 TE in June of 2018. I had done a ton of research on 4Runners, but legit did not realize that 10-13 was a pre-facelift. I actually went to the dealer to look at a 2011 SR5, but it had sold the night before. The sales guy said they had just gotten another runner in so I went out with my gf and two kids and we instantaneously all made the same decision haha. of course i test drove it and asked a ton of questions, but man this thing is sweet. the prior owner took incredible care of it. I bought it at 55k and some change...just hit 60k this morning.

I have no plans on trading it in for a newer one. My commute is so short and it does everything i need it to.

As far as aftermarket goes, I had a hell of a time trying to find the "h blocks" for the cross bars since the prior owner ditched them. found a set in north carolina and another in tenessee via the facebook 5th gen page. im glad that C4 is making that lo pro bumper now and I will eventually add that after doing my suspension/shocks, etc...

I sold off the 285 all seasons that were on it when I bought it and replaced them with the KO2 @ 265/70/17. Much happier with the ride.

Very happy with my 2012 TE I bought last August. Only has 67k miles on it right now. Don't plan on doing many mods but tires will be the next upgrade. It's my daily driver so I don't want to get too carried away.

I really like my 2013 TE with 65k (I've had it since new) but will be trading it in for a slightly used GX460 within the next 10 months

I bought a silver '13 Trail in early Feb of this year. It had 79k and change on it, I just hit 85k the other day. I LOVE it!

Honestly I had thought I didn't like the pre-14 models, a friend had gotten a 12 SR5 last summer and I really didn't care for the look. The chrome and body cladding made it look way too much like a LTD.

When I found mine I was actually searching for a 14+, but instead of entering the year range I just selected "Trail" for model. My 13 came up, and I was like wait minute, that looks GOOOOOD!

So, I went to see it, looked it over, drove it, fell in love with it, and had it by the end of the week, haha.

After looking at this one, I really DO like the look better than the refresh models. Yeah, the interior may be a bit dated, but honestly so is the interior of a brand new one. I like the bluish gauges on the refresh, but the Optitron gauges we have look okay, and way better than the SR5 gauges.

I also like the roof rack better, and I really like the black flares and bumper trim. The wheels are "ok", but at least they're somewhat unique. I also really like the black cloth, and the fact that it came standard with the sunroof and slide out rear tray. A new non-Premium one would be lacking those features.

Mine is completely stock, but I'm collecting parts. I have a set of TRP Pro wheels I just picked up, and my RSG sliders came in next week. After I get some skids and new tires for the wheels (Prob Grabber ATX in stock size) I'll be done with the big stuff for a while.

I'm really happy with it, I doubt I'd ever want to upgrade to another 5th gen, unless I put a ridiculous amount of miles on this one and buy a '19 in like 2025, haha.
