Sadly, I get turned away EVERY time. On multiple occasions I've made it through the "you're all set go see the cashier" phase.. but quickly get called back.
Imagine stacking accessories all over your truck to make it look tough and then it can't even go through a carwash
I've been through several car washes of all kinds, but my rack's also built like a tank. Ah well, c'est la vie.

I have 2 local spinning/shaking brush car wash that charges $25 a month ($25 covers both places and are owned by the same guy) and you can go thru one once a day. I really wanted an after market roof rack. BUT, before I ordered one I asked the owner if it would be a problem and he told me that id never be allowed to go thur his carwashes with any after market mounted rack on the roof or roof mounted light bar, he said theres too much of a chance of damage to his machines and the vehicle too. I also asked about after market cross bars that hook to the factory rails (the rago and Toyota type and showed him a picture of them on my phone) he said those are not a problem because they don't stick up high like after market roof racks do. so it looks like I'm stuck with the cross bars. I wash 4-6 times a week at those places, black 4Runners look best nice and clean...
Car wash by me will accept roof racks under a certain height. Problem is when people decided to lift their truck, add a roof rack and then stack items on top of their roof rack
It does make sense to me that you should at least remove junk off the rack before going through. I take my ski racks off because I don't want to damage them or the wash. They're easy to remove with a few thumbscrews.

There is always something on the roof of my car, and when the guys from the car wash tried to remove things from there, they dropped their hands. In the end, they just took the hoses and washed the body, avoiding the film under which the things lay. It certainly wasn't in America. People of the old school show a stranger wit. And if they need to climb somewhere with a rag without a hose, they climb there like worms. I used Patio/Driveway Cleaning Birmingham & Solihull. Pressure washing service. where they immediately offered me a simpler or more expensive option, but there I had to remove my things in the trunk, and even pull out the chairs so that the cleaning was thorough. I don't know if anyone has used this service, but I personally liked it.
