I bought this gauge/jack on Amazon. Installation was pretty straightforward. I don’t know if it will fit in a 5th gen, but I’m sure Amazon will have one that does.

You don't say what year your rig is but if you are looking to replace the Carplay port in the bottom of the center stack, be aware they changed the size for 2020. I have not been able to find a replacement that fits the factory opening as that mod is on my list.

I have this one for my 2018. It has connectors to tie into the 12v cig port wiring, so no wire splicing necessary.

I see this pulls power from the 12v port but does it also retain data connectivity to the head unit? If not then I see it as being useless as I also need to retain data to the head unit.

the new head unit should have a connection for the usb ,could probably use existing one as well. Pending how the retrofit is connected Id assume it would use existing

Well here is what I am trying to do. I would like to switch to dual port usb where the power port is and move the usb connection to the glovebox as that is where my android auto wireless dongle will stay connected to the head unit. I was thinking of using the dual port I commented on but losing data to that port is a no go and the stock spot in the center stack that has the current USB to head unit connection will be used for TPMS readout.

I think you should be able splice the wiring and run your own wires and hook it up that way.

If you haven't already done this as others suggested consider this.

I like to avoid as many mods as possible to minimize issues down the road.
I used this 12V adapter which provides two USB port with a digital voltage meter that way I you can keep an eye on your battery and charging voltage. It works great for me and looks good too. Leave the 12V OEM for things in the future you might want it for - never know what you might need that for.

This is exactly what I did. I ordered the following Toyota part from one of my local Toyota dealerships: PT976-03201. From what I understand, this part is a factory option only in the gulf states region. It was a direct plug-in and glows blue when the ignition is on. Very happy with it!

I also moved the factory USB/AUX. port to the glove box, and now have an aftermarket switch in its place (soon to be changed to a RJ45 port for a GMRS radio microphone).

did this just replace the factory usb one, would be useful for road trips. Only time I've used the 12v lighter is for a tire inflator

one below replaces factory usb outlet to make it a dual charger.

Does this just replace the OEM cigarette lighter? If so, that’s awesome.

Every Toyota 4Runner NEEDS THIS Dual USB Port Quick Charger Socket 3.2 Amps Quick Charge Your Phone - YouTube
It replaces the 12v cigarette lighter port and doesn't affect the factory USB/AUX port at all.
