Spod touchscreen worth it? Any reviews?
I have searched but have not found any reviews of the spod touchscreen. It seems to be the simplest and cleanest install possible and looks nice as well as has great features.
I have seen reviews of the switches and they seem to be good. Anyone have the touchscreen?
I was wondering how reliable it is and also about the bluetooth. I plan to pick up a RTT once my SSO roof rack is at the shipping stage and when using it, it would be nice to be able to turn the lights on using bluetooth.
I was also wondering how the battery drain is, since it seems to be drawing a small amount of power at all times, and is it on standby all night?
I have some baja s2’s under the rear bumper now. I plan to add s2’s to fill the work light slots in the rack and also add another set for the rear on top of the rack and either and in grill light bar or ditch lights.
Thanks in advance.

@ jdm-v35
i have had one installed for a little while, currently running overhead, ditch, L/R floods, and an air compressor.
the biggest drawback i think is the lack of tactile switches makes selection require a little more of your direct attention, but you get used to where your buttons are located
i really like the system overall tho:
- extremely easy to install and even easier to hook up accessories
- digitally control circuit breakers mean no fuses burn out
- multiple (2 i think?) sources can be coupled to one display if you need to operate more than 8 accessories from 1 screen
- switches can be linked so with 1 touch you could turn your full 360 lighting on
- lights can be dimmed and it works pretty damn well
- screen can be dimmed
- the BT sucks, mostly i think the BT app sucks and i can rarely get it to function, but not a big deal for me
- no battery drain issues thus far, it is in some sort of standby mode at all times
i installed the touch screen on the flat spot under the AC vent to the left of the steering wheel. the bracket itself i installed upside down so the screen hangs slightly over the side-view mirror controls instead of sticking up in front of the AC vent (Tx is too damn hot for that).

@ codyHTX
Thanks!! It sounds like it is a great device and can do a lot. I mostly like the idea of the customization and also not making a large hole in the rubber grommet for a cable.
I am glad it works well. One of the main worries for me was drain while in standby mode. Have you ever left the car not driven for a while? This is not my primary car, so it can sometimes sit for 2 weeks before next startup.

I've seen several complaints about the screen lagging and button lag.
@ codyHTX
any issues with this?
Also any pics you have of the screen installed with the bracket upside down?

I agree with
@ codyHTX
in every way about the sPOD with touchscreen. I run bumper lights, roof rack lights, ham radio, and compressor on mine and love it. Without tactical switches you do have to pay a little more attention to what you are pressing, but i am never barrelling down a road at 70mph bouncing around everywhere needing to find a switch. Have had no issues whatsoever. It is on all the time in standby mode, but it does have circuitry built in to cutoff any lights, etc. that are connected to it when your battery gets to a certain voltage, so it will still crank. I went out of town for work for 2 weeks a while back while mine was hooked up. When i got back my 4runner cranked up just like i used it the day before. Long story short, I wouldn't worry about battery drain with it at all.

i haven't experience screen or button lag, the screen is pressure activated, not heat, so you do have to be somewhat deliberate in pressing the switch button, so at its worst it occasionally hasn't registered my initial "push"
couple pics of how i have it mounted, bracket upside-down / screen right-side-up

I bought the sPod Bantam with the touch screen. Right now it's on the bench hooked to a 13v supply and I have programmed it and played with it extensively. Following are my observations
1. The Bantam is fantastic. One can use either the touch screen or AOB type switches or both
2. There is a slight lag when either the touch screen or switch is pressed.
3. If a switch is pressed, the appropriate place on the touch screen lights up.
4. To activate a switch on the touch screen, a moderate amount of pressure must be applied on the screen. It's unlike an iPhone screen.
5. The screen has a fixed bolt on the back plastic case that does not come off, which does not allow flexibility in mounting locations.
6. Screen resolution is poor
7. The app is abysmal.
Overall, I find it the Bantam a 10 out of 10 and the screen a 5 of 10. The screen is rated low because of its lack of capacitive touch sensitivity, screen resolution, and bolt on the back. If I had to buy again, yes, I would. It is the best on the market but like everything else, improvements can be made.
Remember these are just my observations and YMMV.

So why not the HD Switch Panel? Everyone I talked to said it was much better than the touch screen and as far as I know all the features are the same. I have one and love it. No lag whatsoever
Customer service has been great. I have a variety of lights hooked up.
The app is really basic but I haven't had any issues with it.

Would you happen to have anymore images of the setup? Do you have a 2nd battery installed?

Other option is to upgrade the stereo, and for $75 extra you can get the unit that displays it on the screen. Costs more, yes, but if you're at all into music its a necessary upgrade anyway. You can have 5 separate parameters out of something like 20 that it gives you. Only thing i wish it had was pitch/roll sensors as well as oil temp.

The HD is what I've been leaning toward, the geek in me really wants the touch screen but after seeing multiple reports of lag and issues with the touch screen I'm really leaning toward the HD panel for simplicity and reliability

I was torn between the sPOD and Switch Pros. Quite frankly there was too little information available on what everyone thought and it seemed as if it was really personal choice.....Toyota - Ford - Chevy, you know what I mean. One of the deciding factors for the sPOD was that it could use alternative switches like the AOB ones. In fact, I have already installed 4 of them with the 5th one to go where the Party Mode switch used to be in the early 5th gens. I like pushing a button but like high tech too. Probably
@ comtn4x4
is right, shoulda went with the HD instead.

Any chance you could provide a measurement for the display? After having it for a little while now, any regrets? Thanks
