Cooper Discoverer AT3 replica? Adventurer AT at PepBoys
I've been eyeing a set of Discoverer AT3's for the TEP. I do 100 highway miles a few days a week and need to keep noise/ride-ability in mind and thought a set of AT3 would be the best choice given the reviews I've read on here.
So, I have a Pep-boys gift card and noticed they sell Coopers. They don't sell AT3's but have the "Adventurer AT's in 265/70/17.
Anyone have any experience with these or thoughts? Treads look similair, but not the exactly the same. I'm not a tire expert, but for the price/deal they have going on now, I'm thinking about rolling the dice.

they are the same tire, maybe a little different, but the same. hell cooper makes the discoverer ATP for discount tire and the discoverer ATR for NTB. so no difference between them. find the best deal and enjoy!

The ATP has a slightly more aggressive shoulder compared to the AT3. They are close, but not quite the same.

You can always contact Cooper
@ MATTYDIRT
I have in the past and they are very good about responding to your questions.
They do have the same warranty as the AT3's and look very similar, doesn't hurt to ask.

Pep Boys was having a Labor Day sale and I picked up a set of Cooper Adventurer AT in 275/55R20 for my LE. The sale was buy 3 and get the 4th one free plus $70 rebate from Cooper. At less than $500 unmounted, the deal was too good to pass. The tires look 95% the same as the Discoverer AT/3 (the tread is slightly different).
I wrote to Cooper and also sent a PM to
@ MATTYDIRT
and am still awaiting a response. Does anyone know for sure if the Adventurer AT tire that Pep Boys sells is just a re-branded Discoverer AT/3? I asked at Pep Boys and they had no idea.
If anyone is running these LMK your thoughts? I haven't installed them yet so it's not too late for me to return them.

Just in case someone else is wondering, I just heard back from Cooper regarding the Pep Boys Adventurer AT and the Discoverer A/T3.
"The Cooper Discoverer A/T3 would be a similar tire to the Adventurer A/T tire. They have different tread designs and compounding, but the performance should be similar. Thanks, Les C.

Current situation 2017
Hi.... two years later but .... as it seems very similar tire America's Tire matched the current Pep Boys promo of 30% off work install. Saved about $200 off current AT price , still including $50 mail in. Final price about $500 + tax.

The Adventurer AT from Pep Boys are closer to the Mastercraft Courser AXT (subsidiary of Cooper) than the Cooper AT3's. Somewhat similar to the AT3, but as mentioned it's a somewhat different pattern and compound. It has less of a mileage warranty than the AT3's.
Here's something I worked up a few years back. I went with the Adventurer AT in stock size. I would have preferred a Discoverer AT3, but the Pep Boys deal was just too good to pass up. I'm not very impressed with wet pavement traction, but they've never failed me on mud and dirt.

If I were to buy today it would either be an AT3 or the Falken AT3W.

A family member had these put on his jeep a while back. I can say that they are certainly not an exact clone of the AT3. In person they looked a lot less aggressive and more geared towards the highway (probably the tread depth and spacing were to blame). He also only got about 30k out of them.

Hey, i'd like to play...
i actually have these tires. i purchased them last september, and love them. they are comfortable and quiet on pavement, they are great in wet weather, and they work in snow for sure. off road, i have no complaints, though i am not the person to ask about full off-road testing over hundreds of miles. but i do have a few hundred of level 1 trails, some mud and a little rockyness, and they do work very well. I have even towed and run some long road trips and they are as comfortable as any AT tire that i have had previously. plus, they fill up the wheel wells very nicely, making any 4Rnnr look like it should
As has been said, Cooper sells a variant of this tire thru various retailers. some geared more towards off roading, some more towards pavement. All appear to be up to the task of some off roading for sure. i have been very satisfied with how my set have performed to this point.
i say, unless someone jumps up and says that these tires are pure bootay, buy em and you'll like em.

Reviving the dead here. Any thoughts on the tires by Cooper Adventurer A/T?
Pep Boys has buy 2 get 2 free going right now.

I bought a set 4-5 years ago when they had a similar deal for a tacoma I had. They were okay, nothing fantastic but they were decent in the snow and wore pretty good.
