I decided to keep the factory headunit and upgrade the speakers and add a small Kicker Key 180 amp. That seemed to do the trick as my sound is incredibly better. I personally didn't need Apple CarPlay, although it's damn cool, and use nav on my phone vs the Entune nav, so the stock headunit, although underpowered, was fine.

Living near the #1 auto theft/break in city in the nation also prompted me to keep things as stock looking as possible...

Ive been pleasantly surprised with mine. Small screen would be my only complaint. Never tried the maps but I have a phone for that. I wish it had ACP. As far as sound goes, who buys a 4Runner for great speakers? I came from an M4 with the upgraded sound system and honestly can't tell the difference. But I listen to sports talk radio 80% of the time.

It has been much less disappointing than I was expecting.

I added the kickers in mine, its a good upgrade for $90 but was not wow'd. The stock speakers/crossovers only allow very high freqs, the kickers allow voices so it does sound better. I'm still bent they took apps from my stereo without my consent. I wouldnt allow them to take anything from the vehicle unless replacing it but we had no choice in this matter. The pandora was a premium account, no commercials, etc.

I like my non-jbl in my TRD ORP. The screen seems big enough for me. The directions in NAV mode are clear and I don't really need the screen anyway. It does all the functions I need it to and is simple to use. I've used apple car play in other vehicles and don't find it any more/less useful.

The only weakness I've found is the stock speakers can't handle much bass. They get overwhelmed so I have the bass turned down a bit. I'll probably eventually swap the speakers out for some better ones.
