is this a normal A/C fan noise?

I have a 2018 SR5 and when I turn the a/c fan to high, I hear a humming noise. it's not the air coming thru the vents.

here's what goes on. I set the temp to cold, turn on the fan speed to low, a/c comes on and I hear a low hum, as I turn up the fan speed, the humming increases. Then, I don't touch the fan speed, I turn the temp to hot, the a/c shuts off, the heater kicks on and the humming goes away, I turn the temp back to cold and the humming comes back. I checked the cabin air filter and the airflow arrow is pointing in the direction of the airflow. is this normal?

Is it possible you have very sensitive hearing and it's the sound of the compressor when it's on?

I got a new pair of hearing aids last week and now I hear all kinds of things from my T4. More road noise, wind noise and the turn signal flasher is louder.

no, it sounds like a card in a bicycle spoke. I'm due for my 20,000 service. I'll make sure the tech looks at it then.

Check to see if there are leaves or other material in your fan. They sometimes fall out of the cabin air filter when you change it. I had that happen on my 2010 TE several times.

Heat and AC both use the same fan, or blower technically, so if you're at idle, it's most likely you're hearing or feeling the engine lugging slightly when the compressor kicks on and increases drag.

Had this happen in my wife’s old Civic many , many years ago. Sounded just like a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle wheel. Got so bad that one day all we got was a puff of smoke from the AC. When I pulled the blower out it was packed full of leaves so badly that it jammed up and fried the electric motor.

My 4th gen made that noise until the day I traded it in, drove me nuts. Had it in my xterra as well but replaced blower under warranty.
