Cement Pro to Shoreline Blue Trail: Give me your advice

I have a 2017 Cement that I am thinking of selling and jumping into a 2012 Shoreline Blue Trail. The trail has been maintained and it has 80k miles on it. I would be getting 13K in equity back in my pocket if I make the move. Not hurting for cash but I have future plans to open a business, have a kid, and buy a home.

I need some advice to see if I'm being too extreme on my thoughts of making the switch. Hard to ask for such advice but I don't know much about the trails that is different from the Pro. Enlighten me with your opinions and thoughts.

You'll obviously have the preface lift front end but have everything else besides the bilstein suspension, softex interior, LED tails, and projector headlights (for the most part). You will gain a sunroof, black plastic fender trim and possibly KDSS...

If you already have the TRD Pro, I'd just stick with it unless you want the rarity of a Shoreline Blue Trail (but a Cement Pro is rare as well)

Thumbs up

Cement was voted most desireable of the Pro’s. I would keep the Pro.

Business, children and home? Take the 13k and don't look back, they're just vehicles. Your priorities are in the right place imo.

If saving some money to put into your business and family is your main focus then I don't see an issue with this move. I agree with the majority that voted Cement as the most desirable color on a 5th Gen and the 2014+ 5th Gens are more modern in every way, but I still like the original TE and in some ways prefer it. Shoreline Blue was a rare color on the 4Runner and the Land Cruiser so there's that aspect as well. The 2012 will serve you just as well and 80K miles is low milage for that year model. $13K isn't a whole hell of a lot of money in my eyes and I'd struggle to see how it would make a major difference for my business or family so I wouldn't consider that a contributing factor in the move, but that's just my personal opinion. If it works for you then I say go for it, I could never fault a man for putting his family first. Best of luck in your decision.

I have a 2013 Shoreline Blue Trail with 62K, no problems, no repairs, no rattles or squeaks and it's been on rough roads.

Bought the 7yr warranty that will expire this September and have not needed any work.

TRD Pros, especially ones without a sunroof, are so overrated. Who pays more for less content? That being said Cement is the GOAT color and I'd stick with it even if it wasn't running and had rust holes below the gas pedal.

New to the 4Runner 5th gen scene and am surprised I haven't seen this color yet. It's awesome!

Tough choice because they're both pretty great in their own right. I'd have to go with the 2012 Trail because sounds like you have some worthwhile aspirations for the extra cash back. But if you stick with your Pro, seriously let me know who is selling the Trail cause I'm interested.

Agreed. They’re vehicles. Both will serve their purposes well of getting you from point A to point B and both are capable off-road. You’re not gaining/losing anything major that affects its primary function (third row, etc.)

You need to decide if esthetics are worth 13k to you or are the other priorities in your life worth that 13k. No one can make the decision for you.

I would trade the pro in. Unless I was in a place financially where I could sacrifice 13k. I love the cement color and the refresh of the 5th gen body style but I don't have that kind of money to justify it.

I think the pre-facelift trails have the best looking front ends of the 5th gens.

If you put half that cash into the Trail it would be more capable than the Pro and in my opinion would look better.

Get the Trail

I'm a huge fan of the '10-'13 Trails (I even had a black one and foolishly let it go).
The Shoreline Blue was the color that made me look at 4Runners again at that time. I still feel like mine was the one that got away. I'd make that trade in a heartbeat if the Trail was in good shape, especially if I was looking at an extra $13k in my pocket.
