Changing tire size to 275/70/17 do I need to replace spare too?
I would like to get the KO2 in a 275/70/17 to put on my 2016 SR5 for a beefer look. No lift and stock vehicle. My question is my spare is factory 265/70/17, If I go have a flat I'd be fixing fairly soon within 48 to 72 hours. Would I be ok running on that spare or should I get a fifth 275/70/17 to mount on the spare tire?

I am no expert, but I run the same tries in the same size with a stock spare. From what I read you'll be ok, as long as you don't drive around with it for weeks or something. Back to the tire shop, you'll be good.
You will need to trim your bumper and push your wheel well liners. You're going to get some nice rub with those tires.

The stock size of my 4runner is 265/70/17 and I'm going to a 275/70/17 which is 1" taller. Everyone on this site that has gone to that size tire on a stock vehicle has had zero issues with rubbing. I think your thinking I'm going way up in size, this is the next size up in tire, veery small difference.

Yeah, you should be fine with 275/70/17. Unless you have an unusual 4Runner, you're good.

Mine rubbed turning and heavy breaking at stock height with no mods. Lots of people I've read had the same issues. More annoying/embarrassing than anything.

Do you have aftermarket wheels?
Even with my added weight from the bumper/winch on stock suspension, I've had no rubbing since going to 275 on the tires.

Yes. It will be fine to use your OEM spare for a short time until you fix your flat.

Even if you blow a rear tire?
I was always told you want to run the same diameter tire on a straight axle.
Perhaps that was just a myth?

You should be ok. Do not run rear locker if you have mismatched sizes.

I'm running a 295/70/17 and I still have my stock spare. If I ever get a flat in the back, the spare will go up front and I will a front tire to the back so I can run 2 machine size tires in the back. Front axle disconnects at the transfer case and axle so there is no concern of overheated spider gears. If you have an AWD Limited, I would say you absolutely need a matching spare. With a part time 4wd system, you're fine.

Does the 2wd have an open diff? I would think they may have a limited slip to help with traction since you don't have 4wd as an option. Anyway, you're fine going from a 265 to a 275. It's very possible you will rub the bumper like others have said and may have reported. Super easy fix if you do, just do the fender liner mod.

I would be more concerned about it on a 2wd with limited slip then I would a 4wd with a open diff. Either way you'll be fine for an emergency situation for a short time. I wouldn't worry about it.

Modern cars come with donut spares. How would running one of them for a short time be any different than the difference between a 265 and a 275? Just keep the speed under 40mph, like the instructions for the donut says and there should be no problem until you get the repair.
