Question for you guys who are running the Ultraswing - Do you get any noticeable rear sag vs. having the spare mounted under the truck? Really like the look and functionality of these things but not wild about replacing rear springs to correct sag.

Carrier w/wheel plate ~ 65lbs. It should not be that much sag.

Usually this isn't a problem because I know to close it, but I just had a tire shop close the hatch door with the handle open and it managed to chip some paint off this time.

Wondering if everyone is just dealing with this or if there's something wrong with mine.
Do you have the original handle or the updated handle they recently introduced? I wonder if this issue has been considered in the new handle.

Then add the weight of the spare wheel and tire, plus it is extended rearward so increased leverage and with the soft stock springs it would sag a hair.

Rear spring replacement isn't that bad or just buy some spacers for next to nothing.

Well most folks already have their spare on the bottom of the truck. Granted it’s a stock wheel and tire. If you go after market wheel and tire, still the increase will be minimal.

It still happens with the new handle. It opens inward towards the hatch, so if you have the swing open and want to access the hatch area you have to move the handle back into the flat closed position before opening it, or it will hit.
I banged it a few times already forgetting it was there and scratched the paint .... but if you've seem my runner missing paint ain't a thing I give a sh!t about.

Gotcha, that makes sense. Good feedback as I'm looking to buy. Thanks!

Yea, my 4Runner isn't about vanity either, so I hear what you're saying about about the missing paint.

Just wanted to share my experience with the Rigd Ultraswing. In short, I love it. Yes, it was a chunk of change to purchase, but I absolutely love the convenience it provides. I almost always have my 1UP bike rack with a mountain bike on the back of my 4Runner. It was becoming a quite a pain to always have to lean over the bike rack to access the rear hatch. When the bike was on it, it was impossible. With the Ultraswing, it's so simple to swing the bike and rack out of the way making it much easier to access the hatch. I can now actually sit on the rear bumper to change into my bike shoes, etc. Makes putting big items in it much easier as well. It may sound minor, but I cannot tell you how much more convenient it is now as I ride several times a week. I also upgraded to 285/70 tires and it's nice to have the spare mounted on the Ultraswing. Love the table also. Also know that their customer service is excellent. I had a minor issue with how my bike rack fit and they were very responsive by providing a part to address the issue. The only issue is you do have to pay attention to the position of the handle as you open and close the rear hatch, etc. Would highly recommend if you can swing it! (Pun intended).

Hey what kind of issue did you have the 1up ? I run the same rack and am considering this as well.

Also does the offset hitch make your bike hang over one side or do you compensate for that with the 1up arms ?

Would love to see a pic with the rack & bike on from behind your rig.

Thx

How did you like how your bike rack mounted to the ultra swing ? Did you use the Wobnoy ? I read in the reviews that one person said it still wobbles ?

Mine is mounted on a 4th gen but I think all these things apply. I love mine! The main reason I got it was to haul bikes on camping trips and not have to fuss around and unload them to access the cargo space. I got mine right when they were released, so reliability-wise - top notch!

[url=https://flic.kr/p/2kT51qb]

[url=https://flic.kr/p/T5Xejb]

Since I'm using a 1-up rack, I wanted to recenter the rack. I got this to recenter the rack. I mount it sideways and drilled some new holes for the pin. No issues at all.

I also ran some license plate wires internally. I'm sure it's not recommended, but it works great and is super clean.

And I also use this to haul water or gas, depending on the trip.
