lol.. hydrobumps still sounds nicer than hydraulic bumpstops..

hydrabumps just doesn't have the same ring to it

i love my king bump stops. but with timbrens seems odd, since they engage so early. Maybe redundant? or like youll never make full use of a hydraulic bump stop.

I hear ya. It sounds really odd..lol.

It's mainly for the redundancy, and to experiment which is better. I got rid of my airbags when I upgraded my springs, and my OEM spring/rubber cone isolators got modified (aka destroyed in the process). I figured toyota engineered the bump stop and spring isolator to work in tandem, and I didn't want it to replace the factory spring isolator with factory again.

I do love my timbrens, but they do have a tendency to rebound more than I like when going over moguls. Usually, when my vehicle is empty (oversprung) and going over moguls. You get this weird isolating affect, as the driver and passenger side bottom out at different rates and times, enough to unsettle the suspension and the vehicle. I know the hydrobumps will fix that by itself...but since i have both..i wanna experiment..lol.

I figure i'll try it with both timbrens and icons. Have timbrens soak up the beginning of bottoming out, and the icon acting like a jounce to stop that weird isolation. IF that doesn't work, i gotta get my kings revalved..and I really don't want to do that.

Also, having both, i can test which one separately and/or combined. I'll get my money's worth either way if i decide to sell one or the other.

Not gonna seem odd when you roll up on that g-out you didn't see coming at 50mph!

Many dez vehicles have bump zones in their bypasses, but also run air bumps. Can't have enough oh $hit compression control when running at speed.

Wheeler's and....?

Currently running the Wheelers superbumps up front. A more linear change from the red silicone ones...
Will probably go with the Wheelers rear units once the rear towing suspension is added...or perhaps Timbren for the rear...Will make that decision once I can measure final spring height.

It seems having both would stack well if you have a heavy tail end.

I tell you though, as anyone that has switched out can attest, factory bump stops just plain suck. The biggest difference, I switched out the fronts with durobumps a quite few years years ago, night and day.

I've tried to search and haven't found the answer: are upgraded bump stops needed only for those with aftermarket suspension, or do they also provide a more progressive "stop" for those of us w/ stock suspension?

I sound like a broken record telling people this so often, bumpstops make a night and day difference in how smooth and controlled suspension feels, for everyone not just off roaders.

See above. Even going through dips and if you ever tow or load the vehicle up with weight, such a smoother experience when you compress the suspension down. Durobumps are fairly inexpensive and great customer service.

Sumosprings also seem like a good product. Will be trying those out for my F150 at some point.

It may depend on the bump stop. Some have specific disclaimers recommending use only with a suspension lift, otherwise the bump stop will hit sooner and limit up travel.

yes, potholes, dips, speed bumps, steep driveways, and intersections with drainage ditches..... will bottom out your suspension if you don't slow down, and will happen way more frequently with those still rocking OEM suspension.

Everyone can benefit with aftermarket bump stops. If you just pop your head behind your front wheel or right above your rear axle..you will notice a nice, visible, polished area on your paint (either on front LCA or rear axle)... that means you are smacking your bump stops in your daily commute..which is normal by the way. It also means, you will benefit from a upgrade too. OEM bump stops are so bad, you might as well pretend they aren't there.


Bump stops is one of the best upgrades I have ever done, thats why i'm moving up to air bumps, hydrobumps, grease bumps (LOL). No more "OOOH SHIEET" moments as I fly across a intersection with massive drainage ditches, or as other posters mentioned, big giant holes that like to suddenly appear when you mobbing it in the desert.

Bump stops range from dirt cheap to stupid expensive, but even the dirt cheap ones are a night and day improvement over OEM.

With those durobumps, did you have to mess with the bump stop extensions that came with your TC LCA?
