It is dopamine-inducing how perfectly 3 Plano Sportsman mediums (1719-00) fit

At their base, there's about 1/2" of space on either side when perfectly centered -- so if you wanted to build some kind of platform, you could still use 1/2" walls at the base of the cases.

View when stacked is just a hair higher than the side windows:

Update: Of note, the large versions won't fit 3 as they are each several inches wider. The small versions are 3/4" wider than the mediums, so I don't think they will fit 3 across.

It is pretty great. I'm looking to upgrade from my cheap-o bins and these look solid. Can you stack them 3 high? Just wondering how easy it is to get them out of the way if I wanted to sleep back there.

I'll give it a test later, but I'm pretty confident you can.

What's even better is these containers are like $20-25.

Plano boxes are great, I got two big ones for the roof rack and one for the back. Cheap and sturdy.

Yea. The net you see in the picture is at an angle. I can actually put the 2nd row seats up with the net there.

I can only stack them 3 high if I orient them sideways. The ceiling slopes back down slightly too soon.

The small version of this bin may work for your use. It is 6" shorter in length, 3/4" wider, and the exact same height (13"). I do not think you could have them 3 across, but you could probably have them 3 high longways.

With the seats up, there is approximately 8" of leftover room from the bottom of the bins and 6" of leftover room from the top of the bins.

i have these totes, and still do, after installing my drawers. Quite frankly, i hate my drawers, mainly because these totes are way more practical than drawers.

I have a fridge and slide in back but still use these for trips. Typically four of them organized and labelled as... kitchen, pantry, camp, and clothing. I stack pairs and bungee the stacked pairs to keep them stacked. Of course w the fridge...i am folding the seats flat to travel, but it can be done with only drivers side folded.

For the record, a Plano Sportsman large (1919) can fit longways without impacting the 2nd row ramp. It actually fits quite perfectly.

You cannot place a medium (1719) sideways with the remaining space. I do not own a small (1619) to prove it, but measurements suggest it can be placed sideways in the remaining space -- quite perfectly actually.

How are you anchoring them to the roof rack?
