Slider question RSG and door ding protection

Ok so I’m looking at some kind of slider. The question I have is I was looking at RSG angled sliders but I’m wondering how much door ding/ shopping cart protection they will provide due to the significant angle?? I’m looking for something that will help with this. Would the flat no angle ones provide more protection??

I have the flat RSG sliders and I haven't seen a door they'd stop yet. I think the "door ding protection" of sliders is oversold big time.

they might protect you from a sedan door but nothing larger. and even then it depends on door shape.

sliders advertised that they will help with door dings are just companies fishing for more features to advertise.

I was just going to say that rear doors being kicked open by kids will not be stopped by a slider unless it goes half way up the 4 runner door, and you climb in and out through the windows.

This.^ I have Shrockworks sliders and they have taken a couple hits from car doors. SUV’s and truck doors are the ones to watch out for. I like the angled up look and mine sit very close to the vehicle, as not to get in the way entering and exiting.

RSG Sliders

I have the flat RSG sliders with the bump-out. So far, they have stopped 3 door dings that I'm aware of.... FWIW...

I have the RSG angled sliders.. before my lift they weren’t very good at stopping door dings. It seemed that most door shapes have an edge that isn’t flat so that it may still hit your 4Runner above the slider.

With the lift though, it places the slider about mid-height relative to the other car’s door and to is more likely to block it.

To this day, after 3 years of ownership, i have zero door dings, and I work in a retail complex.

People tend to hit my sliders, or my tires (I'm running negative offset wheels).....
