My wife ordered the C4 ladder for me at the end of November, it arrived earlier this week. I installed it today with no issues on my 2020 TRDP. I read through the PDF instructions on the C4 site, watched the C4 install video, and also read through the install guide on Trail4Runner.com. The C4 install video says to measure 9.25" for the bottom bracket measurement, the Trail4Runner site said 9.5", I went closer to 9.25". I did a couple test fits before removing the top bracket adhesive covering. I stuck with what the C4 video said about how to initially place the top bracket (pretty much centered so that the washer covers the entire hole. I was a little concerned that the top bracket wouldn't sit flat, but I thought after tightening down the bottom bolts that it would sit flat, and it did. Seems like a solid product, it doesn't move at all when climbing it or pulling on it.

I installed mine approx 6 months ago on a 2012 4Runner, and I remember 1) sticking in as much carboard as possible between the roof and the mounting plate, 2) placed weights on top of the plate (with carboard in between), and 3)leaving it there for 2-3 days so that the adhesive can work and keep the plate hinge as close to the rear as possible. It works great now. Nice and horizontally leveled. Great product!

Anyone run into this issue, or am I all alone?

Same thing happened to me. Got a nice gouge on that inner surface thats hard to access. Did you do anything to fix that area? Any paint or anything that will help prevent any corrosion?

This was 2 years ago and I do have the C4 ladder on my car as well but DAM! My ladder does not sit that high with the double sided tape. I'm wondering did they give you the wrong double sided tape/did you use the wrong one? The one I got was thin and my ladder sits nice up top. maybe after 2 years, they decided that the thicker double sided tape you have on yours was not cutting it.

Did you try test-fitting the ladder before installing it? The top-plate is at an angle atop the adhesive, which is causing it to rub against the body. That isn't the normal position after installation. With the top-plate flush, it shouldn't contact the hatch at all.

Sorry to see this on your rig.
