Anyone use one on a 2019? Im thinking about it but want to get a owners view before I shell out 300 bucks.

It being a 2019 shouldn't matter. Its seems plenty of people have installed that intake on a 5th gen 4 runner.

I believe the TRD and AFE? are the most popular from the reading I have done.

I cant speak for K&N but this AFE CIA sounds great, really growly at high rpms and almost stock at 2500 and below. I cant speak for performance increases but I would like to think I gained at least half of what they claim on their site. Otherwise the unit is well made, easy to clean and install, low maintenance. My only complaint is the housing is on the larger end to fit the bigger filter.

Momentum GT Cold Air Intake System w/Pro 5R Filter Media | aFe POWER

Memorial dale sale looks like it is still going on. I believe I picked up mine on their July 4th sale (25% off) which is on of their biggest sales of the year if you're willing to wait / risk them not having the same sale this year.

I have the same intake, just installed a few weeks ago and my God do I love it. I had a K&N drop in filter before but this intake makes a world of difference over the stock intake box. The K&N isn't a true CAI since it pulls from the engine bay, can't recommend my AFE enough though

Keep in mind without a tune any perceived gains from an intake are likely just the placebo effect.

That being said I wish I could find a silicone replacement tube to get rid of all those resonators on the stock tube. I would like a little more chooch noise.

Not to diverge the thread but does your setup make a slight whistle when the throttle body is just opening up / at initial throttle application? Its pretty high pitch and not very loud. Wondering if this is unique to my setup or if everyone is getting the whistle. Im running mine without the engine bay plug if it makes a difference.

I definitely have not noticed any whistle with mine, and I'm running the AFE TB spacer as well. I don't run mine with the engine bay plug out, so maybe throw that in and see if you still hear it? Otherwise it could be the way it's sucking in air from the fender. I used the TRD Air Accelerator on mine to make a better seal with the fender so that could be while I don't have a whistle

I'm not familiar with 5th gen, but assume that the stock air filter is CAI drawing from wheel well. Why would you want to spend $300 for another CAI vs. dropping in a $50 K&N replacement? Especially since one poster says the K&N CAI is not, it draws from engine compartment, which is certainly false advertising!

K&N Intake

I have had the K&N Intake on my 2017 Pro since 1,000 miles. I just clipped 20,000 last week. No issues. Get the typical little whistle here and there with the throttle. I was more about the breathing better, less restriction and ease of cleaning (no need to replace) I have had K&N intakes on all my cars for my entire life. Not broke don't fix in my opinion. It is all up to preference. But the average person will not feel a difference on the ol' butt dyno as they say.

This CAI/Intake topic hasn’t popped up for a while but what you said has been the overwhelming consensus. Time and again, intakes have proven to be a waste of money for our platform. They do produce noise though so if that brings you pleasure, then your money may be well spent. That’s completely up to the user. Otherwise, results have shown a negligible increase in performance if at all. IMO, money is better spent on suspension, tires or any other mod.

Just order just drop in K&N Filter. Never had a problem with them. Just clean them once a year and your good to go.
