Thinking of selling my Calvary Blue Pro for a Tundra Pro or Sierra AT4

Long story short, I never even considered a 4R for myself. After losing our vehicles in a house fire, I got my wife a white 4R Pro and I liked it so much, that I got a Calvary Blue. I absolutely love my Pro. I've owned a bunch of sports/muscle cars and many trucks, but my 4R is currently my favorite.

I am a big guy (6'8" and 350 lbs.), but the 4R fits me surprisingly well, although a full size truck would definitely offer more room and comfort. I also find myself needing a truck bed for miscellaneous projects, especially with just moving back into the house.

Although I "think" I need a truck, I cannot help wondering if I will regret letting my 4R Pro go. I have a couple of reasons. At 6'8", I absolutely will not comfortably fit with a sunroof, which all new 4R Pros now have. If I regret my decision, I cannot just go out and buy a new one. And the color, the color has really grown on me. I've received more complements on my Calvary Blue 4R, than all of my muscle cars and other vehicles combined.

I'm not really sure why I like my 4R so much. I am definitely not a Pro snob, but knowing that less Pros where produced and they stand out a little more from every other 4R, probably has something to do with it. I'm sure the color also has something to do with it. I know it sounds stupid, but I like having a vehicle that stands out from everything else.

If I did let the 4R go, it would most likely be for a Tundra Pro or Sierra AT4. Up until the fire, I was a loyal GM customer, so I know what I'm getting into. The Tundra Pro seems like a great truck, although dated, but I don't know if my judgment on the Tundra is only carried over from the 4R.

To further complicate things, there is talk of a complete redesign for the 2021 Tundra with no V8 option. I would imagine, a 4R redesign is not far out either.

Anyone regret getting rid of the 4R? Should I just get a trailer and call it a day? Or should I go with a Tundra or AT4?

I loved my tundra, and honestly, I would be just as happy owning it again as I am with my current 4runner. I had a tundra rock warrior, which is the precursor to the tundra pro, and it went everywhere I wanted it to go, and it was reliable as any toyota is (never gave me a problem).

My next vehicle, after my 4runner is paid off, is probably another tundra. I miss having a pickup truck, but i don't want the pickup as my only vehicle though.

You will be much more comfortable in a tundra. My cousin is 6’11 and he drives a tundra which is his daily driver and he loves the space compared to my runner which makes him extremely uncomfortable as his head hits the roof no matter how he adjusts the seat.

I've owned 5 Tundra's and loved them all. The PRO was my favorite. Not as tall as you but sun roofs don't work for me. This is my first 4R and I have no regrets and when I can afford both I will add another Tundra.

I like diversifying when can. Love my 4r, will not get rid of it, but for a second car, it would be something else.

But, if I did have two, and the only reason was something like need a pick up truck bed, i would look into getting a trailer before I got rid of the 4r.

How about just keep your 4r, and get rid of the other one? That way you still keep it, yet have something you also want/need.

rent a pickup truck to move back into the house.

A tundra, or sierra wont keep you happy driving them, and they will not old their value like a 4Runner will.

I have both my 4runner and a 3/4 ton diesel truck. My 4runner is my daily driver and I love it and would not switch over to a truck unless I absolutely needed to which I do. My truck hauls my slide in camper. The half ton trucks have a 5 1/2 foot bed which is pretty worthless, you could rent a trailer for the 4runner if you needed to haul anything that doesn't fit inside.

I went from a Tacoma -> Tundra -> 4Runner. I miss having a pickup sometimes but I ended up buying a trailer. The few times where I did need an actual pickup I just go down to my local Enterprise store and rent one for around $50/day.

Do it!!! That way you have the best of both worlds! The only other option for me, if I ever got rid of my 2016 TRD Trail Bro, would be for a V8 Ford Raptor.

I don't have any advice for you but I just wanted to chime in here.

I've owned a good amount of clean "muscle"/sports cars and I got more compliments on my white 2016 4Rrunner Trail with just powdercoated wheels and the typical TRD Pro aesthetics than I did on all of my previous cars combined.

I think the only vehicle I've owned that got as many compliments or comments as my 4Runner was the short time that I owned my GT350. But it was kind of hard to miss since it was bright red and ridiculous looking.

The 4Runner is just a great looking vehicle and I agree with you, I don't know what it is, but I actually enjoy driving it and look forward to getting into it every time I drive it. There's nothing exciting about driving it but for some reason I love it more than any other "utility" vehicle I've ever owned.

But looking at my history, I guess it's a little telling (and a little ****ed up) that I dumped a 4Runner for a GT350 and then went back to a 4Runner within a few months. If I was financially stable enough and didn't live in an area with the CoL (and shitty roads) of Seattle, I would have figured out a way to hold onto the Shelby though.

Ditto on the trailer. I bought a 5x10 to haul whatever.

I am considering a tacoma, but as a second vehicle to keep miles down on my t4r. I have a lot of add ons invested and I want to keep it a very long time.

I traded my turd gen taco in for the 4runner, ended up buying a bigtex 6X10 for $1250. I need to take some things to the dump soon and will throw it on trailer. I like th ewide trailer for my motorcycles which works better than a truck. Hard to get 3 street bikes next to each other.
