Dealer asked about bending my sliders....

Hey guys, have a (hopefully) funny story to tell y'all. I backed into a tree a few weeks ago and broke my tail light and messed my back bumper up a little bit, so I took it to the toyota dealer here to replace all the stuff I damaged. Dropped it off this Monday morning, and Monday evening I get a call from the dealership and the guy said that the mechanic doing the body work noticed my steps were bent and offered to straighten them back out for another 100 dollars. I informed him that they were actually rock sliders and designed for that, and suddenly he wanted to get off the phone as quick as he could.

Hopefully he just wanted to get off because he felt stupid, and not because the dude had already started trying to straighten my sliders. The vehicle should be ready tomorrow, so I'll definitely be checking them out for signs of stress. Shouldn't be too hard since I trimmed the rocker panels and didn't have much gap between the sliders and panels.

My first thought was that I didn’t think he could bend them if he tried, but then I realized he probably has a heavy duty frame rack. Although with them being bolted to the frame I would figure he’d twist the frame if he tried the wrong way.

A Dealer repaired a Truck for Me that needed the rear axle and rim replaced after an Illegal Alien hit Me. Truck had Enkei's in a 15x10 rim size. When I picked it up something looked wrong and after a quick inspection, I found the new rim was a 15x7 with a 32x11.50 BFG squeezed on!! Dealer said ''I can't swap it unless YOU pay because the tire was already mounted so the rim guy won't take it back!'' I had the keys so I got in and left without paying at all........I called the next day and asked if He was ready to fix the problem and He was pissed and unreasonable so I deducted the Tire and wheel completely and dropped off the check. I bought a new Enkei and had it mounted, and never heard from them again. He expected ME to eat the $200 rim because He was stupid?......not likely.

That's pretty ridiculous, but I wonder how many people have caved in similar situations. I know I would have done the same as you, doesn't seem like that's even safe.
