MD, DC, PA, VA, NY, ?- meet and greet#2- suggestions?
Last year we had a little get together at Sandy Point St Park on September 17th. It was a pretty good time- and we had a decent turn-out of 7 5th Gens and plenty of awesome people!
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-ge...eet-greet.html
Now- Sandy Point was ok- but no beer allowed there- some people expressed discontent at that.
Anybody have another place in mind? I don't want to offroad at this event, just hang out and maybe have a cookout and shoot the sh!t.
Once we figure out where and when- I'll start the "official thread" and keep track of stuff.
Please post some ideas thoughts! Thanks guys.

How about North Carolina? That way the "Good Ol'e" southern boys/gals can join up in a more centralized location. NC, SC, GA, Fl etc, could make the trip in a reasonable time. I also hear that NC has some pretty cold beer there and indoor plumbing! Those that want to take an off road ride, plenty of area's there. Fishing, golf, etc.etc. Be Safe.

Antman, don't read too much into my no-beer complaints. I say it all the time. Unless ... I wasn't the only one.
Sooo on that note, let me suggest some sort of brew pub ;)

Sorry, I can't help but think less of you when you won't take the time to spell things right or use proper grammar. Deal with it. I don't care if you're ESL either, because I am too.

An overnight/camping wouldn't be out of the picture for me too. Somewhere to bring some RC crawlers to boot!
Bull Run has group campsites, the Atlantis water park (if you're bringing kids), there are hiking trails, and definitely some places to run your RC (electric, of course). No wheeling there, unfortunately.

Not sure where my other post went but......
Mr. Ant and I talked about this not long ago. The thought was to have a non off roading meet and greet since so many here don't actually off road all that much And even when off roaders get together there is not all that much time to socialize anyway since most of the time is spent in our trucks on the trails.
So, I suggested my place as a good central location for us Northeasterners. I have more room for maybe 10-15 trucks depending on how we park them. More if we park on the grass. This way we could spend more time hanging out, eating, drinking and telling lies. Maybe even a mini mod event I would also have space for any who wanted to stay over instead of heading home the same day.
If we did this on say a Sat we could also do a trail run to RC on Sunday if any were interested.
But, doing the above looks like it would need to wait till early next year.
So, yeah - let's do something in the meantime. I love the beach idea if any knows of a place. I would also like to do something family friendly so kids could come too.
If not a beach, how about a park? In NC I would offer up my factory with a big parking lot but it really is in the middle of nowhere with nothing else to do.

Tridelphia resevoir, terrapin beach, just on the other side of the bay bridge. Kent island,
there are quite a few parks on kent island, I just figured this terrapin beach would be like sandy point but I think we could get away with drinking beer there, also, I have noticed cruise ships come down the bay in the afternoons from baltimore, so it would be a good location to see one cross the bay bridge.
Northeast MD elk neck state park is nice also and central for people up in PA, NJ and DE.
it says no alcohol in the park but there is a lighthouse and stuff for families, also, the nearby town of northeast has a couple really good seafood places, it is kind of touristy, but the restaurant/bar called woody's is great. a word of warning, no speeding and no drinking and driving, the cops are all over the place in that town.
I did not know that driving on the beach was a requirement, md is not very 4wd friendly, the only place I know of is assateague md.
I am planning on bringing my mtn bike and going for a ride.
as long as the temp is below 90,

apparently you can drive on Assateague island n camp there too or fish if you'd like.. but that may far out for people.. its about 3 hrs from me w traffic. you have to get a permit.. and it might last the whole year so it may be best to do that earlier next year so you have a whole years use of it.. dont know if its fiscal year or 365 days..

Why don't we do a little 3 day campout ..say on the PA/MD border...kind of a middle spot for everyone. Eat, drink and be merry..possibly mid October, once it cools down?

I'll do any of the above; Assateague would be cool though.
I'll be in the Outer Banks NC this weekend. Come drive on sand, drink beers, and tell lies with me!

You all will definitely need a biologist, especially if you plan on driving on the beach. I can identify both intact and dorso-ventrally compressed (i.e. flattened) fauna. We could do an evening "what's that stuck in my grill?" session if y'all ask nicely.
Yes, I am the guy every party needs.
