Two questions:
  1. Is there any difference in wind noise?
  2. Does it impede your sun roof operation (assuming you have one)?

Sorry, it is no longer active. You can use coupon code FIVE or give the sales team a call!

Looks good. Wondering if I could mount a Thule box on the rack. The bars look like they'd accommodate the clamps but I wonder about clearance. Anybody else put a box on their rack?

Wondering the same thing. Thinking about throwing a Yakima SkyBox 12 up there because it has the flat bottom with clamps but unsure if it will scrape the roof.

Sun Roof

Does this affect the sun roof? I'm wanting a rack and looking.

Full-size work works just fine. You can either remove the two bars over the sunroof or just the one over the middle. The rear one just clears the sunroof when it is in the up position. I just installed this one last night.

Is there any info on the weight it can handle? I'll be using this to get 4x8 sheets of wood and 2x4s and such every now and again.

+1 for a current coupon code

On the Q&A section of the Victory 4x4 Roof Rack page someone asked this question and this was their answer:

Quote:
Toyota rates the 4Runner roof with a factory rack at "Max load 165 lbs evenly distributed." Our rack itself can handle significantly more weight than that, and we've had 250 lbs dynamic weight on it without issue, static capacity is certainly well above that. All these weight will be at your discretion as they are above Toyota "recommended" capacities. If you need more information please contact us directly at [email protected]

I want to know how you get a sheet of plywood or drywall up there? Seriously, I've been trying to figure that out.

I'm pretty happy with the rack and Victory's overall customer service. My order was really well packaged and the fit and finish was quality - what I would've expected for shelling out that kind of coin.

My only complaints are:

1) application of RTV silicone into the factory rack mounts is messy and a pain to clean out should you want to switch racks. I'd love if they could find a new solution to waterproofing. I found somewhere on this forum where another user used a combination of silicone washers and butyl rubber for waterproofing, which I've used with great success.

2) the new front support design isn't great. I like the no-drill option and how the feet sit in the rain channel, but I think they should add some additional protection to the mounts. I'm constantly running into an issue where they rub against the roof of the car, and nicking the metal (picture attached). I haven't found a way to prevent it from happening, but have been touching it up with factory paint once a month just so bare metal isn't exposed.

Ouch, that's a major issue for me. I've got the rack sitting in my garage waiting to go on. I live in a salt belt and that's like candy to a fat kid for rust.

I'm also looking at getting this roof rack. I have some money and ready to pull the trigger. Just trying to find some reviews on this one and found it here.

I have a cheap Rola extended rack now that covers the roof top over the moon roof. It's nice but I think I want something of better quality. Also like the look of this rack over my current silver rails with the black rack.

Did I read there is a discount for being a member here? Was that 10% off or something?

Quick update since someone threw a like in here, rack is still on the 4Runner and has worked flawlessly to this point. Coating has also held up pretty much 100% since I installed it.
