That's easy- maybe one could not find a 4R like they wanted without KDSS.

Trying to keep this thread alive.
I came across this harness from Blackgate custom and wondered if anyone has tried it out yet?

I don’t have time to search now but there is another thread where someone purchased the switch and was waiting to receive. They probably have it by now…

Edit…

Here is the thread, last post… from @sekurt

Only KDSS w/lift need apply

Yep, that’s me that received the Blackgate switch. Nicely made harness and supplied AOB custom KDSS switch. I haven’t installed it yet since I am in process of acquiring a switchpros system. I originally was going to wire in the AOB switch but have now decided to go the switchpros route. As an aside, I received an email just today that blackgate is offering a 10% discount, code AMERICA10

The former partner at BGC also has a switch in the works. You can see his IG here: Login • Instagram

Seems the function is the same, yet the install is very different.

I just picked one up on the sale today and have a switchpro already so I should be able to install it somewhat quickly to test out

Please share how it goes, the concern was that KDSS wasn't meant to be relaxed over 12 mph and potentially it doesn't have the tolerances to not break at higher speeds. It would be nice to have extra travel on bumpy roads going at 25-30 tho.

Thanks. I like this solution a lot more since it’s installed under the dash rather than under the truck… Price will be much cheaper as well…

I can't remember if there was a more recent thread, but I've been running with a kdss disable function for about 1 month now. Unfortunately I have yet to take it out on a trail due to some unrelated issues, but I do not notice a gigantic difference driving around town with it. It doesn't feel like it's going to just fall over sideways or anything like that, I 'think' I can feel a difference on some bumps here and there. This also may have to do with my some what heavily modified suspension already though.

Once things get settled for me I'll be back out on the trails every week or so. Until then, I have not ran into any issues with the switch, no weird errors or side effects.

KDSS disables itself over 12mph if there isn’t g-load / steering wheel input / vehicle yaw.

Love it o around and there is a graphic somewhere showing the speed and input relationships.

Toyota just doesn’t want to deal with the liabilities of it being disabled over the 12mph. Trust me. Also I’ve tested this thing like no other. Yes both v1 from blackgate and v2 that I have not that happens all inside. That outside location is too vulnerable and I had some test trucks have seal failures. And if you go back , Jetboys wiring is the better route which v1 is not. Except I change it up a little and made it inside the cab and not using resistors so we can have the kdss light on the cluster.

Kdss does not disable over 12mph. It never really disables. It’s always working. The kdss control harness / switch deal weather it’s the v1 I made for blackgate or my v2 is what disables the kdss so that the accumulators stay open. Which in turn allows the fluids / pistons to move.

Under 12mph from factory the accumulators are open. Over 12 it’s closed which doesn’t allow the fluid/ pistons to move.
