What size tires you running, want it to look like a 4x4
Guys on suggestion from another post I am now posting in here for some advice please.
Just bought a new 2019 T4R Off Road Premium. It is a 4x4 but can't really tell it without checking it out. I'd like for it to look like one, lol.
It is scheduled to receive a 3" lift early this coming week.
It currently has the stock 265-70-17's on it. Couple questions if you would please.
How big of a tire can I run on the stock rims, wife likes wider if possible.
really would like to save the money and not buy rims if I can avoid it to purchase a nice rack for it … but if its necessary what size rims and tires can I get away with.
Don't want to mod the 4runner any other than the lift, so if you could keep this in mind when advising tires that won't rub.
Already ordered the 3" lift.
I appreciate any help and/or pics.

^ in addition to those links, you could also just get a lot of pinstriping, mud, and dirt on the car. Then it will look like a real 4x4

is this post a joke? I can't tell. You want to look like a 4x4? It already says TRD-OFF ROAD on it, so I am sure people already know.

I used to live in Houston. If you wanted something that would "look" like a 4x4 to fit in with the rest of everyone then you shouldn't have bought a 4Runner. You should have got a full size or heavy duty pickup truck with a huge puck lift, bracket lift, 22's, MT's and painted fender wall liners. That right there is what a real 4x4 "looks" like in Texas.

A 285-70-17 is the most common choice with a 3” lift. There is a huge selection of tread patterns, load ratings and manufacturers in 285’s. They will work just fine with your factory wheels. There is still a possibility that it will require some front inner fender trimming, removal of your front mud flaps, and maybe the infamous BMC (Body Mount Chop). A 275-70-17 would fit without any clearance issues.

You could buy a Cape Hatteras National Seashore beach permit for your windshield. At $120/year it's cheaper than four tires.

This is a big step up from the 1986 Subaru GL wagon I used on the Outer Banks beaches for 14 years. That thing would go anywhere in the sand on 185/70-13 tires. Dual range 5 speed, factory skid plate, 3 position manually adjustable rear shocks and armored exhaust. All factory, including the white spoke wheels. The front sub frame finally rusted apart.

I see you've already purchased a lift but I would slow down with your build and do some research first. Heck, maybe even put a few thousand miles on it so you know how it handles and what it's capable of in stock form and go from there. Unless it's strictly looks you're after... just buy what looks good.

285s or bigger tires on super negative offset rims. lifting is optional, and so is a grinder or sawzall.
