What part is this and any care recommendations?

Hi,

I am an entry level car enthusiast with little to no knowledge about various different parts and what they are doing etc. One of these past weekends as I was cleaning the car from outside I decided to peek under it. I noticed some parts had some rusting going on and I am not sure if it's ok to leave as it is or should I be doing something about it? Also, what are these parts? Here are two parts that I noticed with rusting:

Part 1:

Part 2:

PS: this is on a 2017 with 18k miles on it (if that matters).

Thank you

Transfargulation Muffler Bearing

Part 1 is your front pinion flange, Part 2 is your transfer case front output flange.

They typically rust to a certain point and then stops, with the oxide layer acting as a further barrier to more degradation. Unless you live where they dump tons of deicer on the roads, I wouldn't worry about it.

If you do live in one of those areas, you can hit it with some Fluid Film in the fall and spring. No biggy.
