I have an SR5 PREM, will check when I have a chance and report back.

Don't really care much about having my dash lights dim or not but would like to give this a shot just cause it's cheap and easy to do.

How exactly does this work? It's a sensor that will detect ambient light to automatically turn on the headlights? If so, what position do you put the headlight stalk on?

It has nothing to do with the headlights, only the interior lighting.

It will automatically dim or brighten dash lights based on daytime/night time. I work shift work and have darkened windows. I have to roll my windows down to back in the drive when coming home before daylight because the head unit screen nightblinds me. Im looking forward to this! Like really looking forward to it!

And yes, I could also make use of better reverse lights!

this mod is good during dusk and dawn driving, and if you have to go through tunnels or parking garages, since it adjusts your instrument cluster to ambient light when you have your headlights on.

As I mentioned in another thread, toyota was being really cheap by not including it, but went through the trouble of having wiring harness already installed (for most years) and a fake plug made for it.

We were commenting the other day that a $40k truck ought to come with this.
Tagging this thread to see if this mod works as "plug and play" in a '19 Off Road (non-premium).

Had to do some searching but just figured out how to change the GPS Navigation screen to Night mode.

Navigation Screen Night Mode?

I still need to go out and mess with it but that thread will give you step by step.

Edited add: turning the dial, located on the dash to left of the steering wheel, off high did the trick. Now with the headlights on I have night mode on the Nav screen.

Also set my door locks up so the doors stay locked (from the outside) when the vehicle is placed into park.

Also, on a similar issue, what is your truck wired to but doesn't have the end piece/hardware?

A user on here posted a link to the ebay sale that had the sensor for $5 vs. $100 at the dealer. The item took 5 weeks to come in and granted it doesn't have at Toyota stamp on it, it is identical.

does this sensor work when the headlight is on or off or both? thanks!

Worked on my 2019 off-road premium. Surprised that Toyota went through the trouble of connecting the harness to a dummy.

Installed my $8 sensor from Kentucky yesterday, install literally took 30 seconds. I spent the most time ensuring that I had the connector pins lined up correctly and then snap. Do you have to enable night mode on the GPS? Any other settings I need to enable?
