Sorry, I didnt follow that you hadn't purchased the sensor. If you pry the plastic cap off and disconnect the harness, it'll be obvious. Beyond that, they look pretty much identical from above. But it seems like a safe bet that you don't have the sensor anyway.

Btw, auto high beams has nothing to do with the sensor. I had AHB but no sensor.

Btw #2, the $5 sensor will not work on yours, you need the OEM one, either used or new

So I've since learned - Toyota changed it for some.. unknown reason?

I don't know anything about the part itself - is it just a matter of time before a cheap updated sensor comes out or is it not that simple?

I can answer that with a definitive "maybe"? All I can really say is that even for the $70ish used, it was worth it to me

Any followup to this?

The old sensor had only two wires and the new one has four. Is there any chance it has four to potentially control the auto on/off headlight function?

Here is the link to the one I purchased.

Really thin metal pry tool, and/or credit cards from both sides.

For my 2020 ORP

I wanted to try a cheaper option, so bought 98121-21020 hoping it would fit, or I can Jerry rig it to make it work.
2020 ORP part has 3 pins straight, and does the 98121-21020

When, it arrived, it is too big. Opened it to see if I could somehow connect it, I think its possible cause sensor is sensor, nothing more. I did not want to have a unfinished sensor right in front of me. Here is what it looks like inside if someone is interested.

I bought one form earlier link Colt posted. Last pic is the part that I just got vs the big 98121-21020

How much was the harness? How did you decide which one to buy? How hard was it to install?
