2019 TRD OR; ordered the part off ebay here: 89121-50020 Automatic Light Control Sensor For Toyota Camry Tundra Sienna Lexus | eBay

Installed using electrical tape, confirmed it worked (during the day) by turning headlights on, placing my hand over the sensor and watching it switch into night mode, then removing my hand and watching it switch into day mode.

In lieu of a credit card a hook/pick makes removal of the dummy sensor a breeze.

Whoops, guess I should've gone through the thread a little more thoroughly.

I took my 2021 TRD Offroad in for service last Friday and asked how much the sensor would be for this and they stated $196 and they would have to pull the dash, order some special tool, install a harness, and potentially replace the head unit to get this to work. I told them I already have the harness from the factory, but wasn't going to pay $196 for a simple sensor. Found one on ebay for $36 this past weekend, got it today and it works perfectly. Part number 89121-30020

Anybody found the sensor for a decent price for a 2022? I believe it's the 89121-30020

Yes, that’s the correct part. I got one on eBay for $50ish. Shipped from Japan. Took a while to get here. Installed in 5 minutes. Works perfectly. Love it.

I just found this thread and have a new 2022 (RIP my 07 V8). Does this make the headlights (low beams) automatic? and if so what position do you leave the stalk in for it to work?

No. It just dims your screens and dash

If it helps,
It’s the same sensor used on 2020, 2021 Camry. I found one for a 2020 4Runner - easier to search the part for Camry.
And the newer ones are expensive I thought.
I replaced the dummy light sensor on my 2020 Venture and with the headlights on, the dash and infotainment lights dim when the driving and or headlights are on.
Easy project.

Just curious about seeing part 89121-30020 at Discount Toyota places for about $135 and then on eBay for about $65. Something seems amiss, are the eBay ones China imitations??
