See post #267 for SR5/SR5P's - not a 5 minute mod unfortunately...

Does anyone know if I follow the head unit removal procedure if I can reach back and get to this area?
Yes. I didn't drop the plug, but since I have an SR5, I had to run the additional wires, so I had to remove the head unit to get to the plug. I do recall having to remove the vents (or ducts) also after the head unit was removed.

Do you have a post or write up on how/what you did? Would be open to giving it a try.

Sorry, no writeup. I removed the head unit and the vents/ducts that were behind it. I just removed enough stuff to get a grabber tool back there.

I have not made any Entune menu settings like described in post #55 by @ElectroBoy yet, it seems that my menu is a bit different.

Thanks to all that have contributed to this thread, no more blinding nav screen when I start the vehicle at night.
Hey J-Dub,

Wanted to verify this was in an SR5 non premium right?

Thank you

Installed one I ordered off Ebay in my '23 ORP and it works fine. I love that I can now run with headlights on and have the buttons etc ilumited in the day, but have the display on bright. I have dark tinted windows and the buttons are a bit hard to find, even in the daylight. After this mod, the illumination makes them easier to spot .
