Not saying it's right or wrong but a buddy in an 80s Accord got rear ended. Two years later had a new car, paid off the house with a room addition. Do not admit or make a statement to anyone, call the lawyer 1st

Glad you are okay but you maybe sore tomorrow. Sad to see a 4Runner in that shape but also mad at the idiot that needed to blow through the red light.

In this case a lawyer is a necessity. Montgomery County is a tricky county because juries don't like to give out money. When I got whacked in Montgomery County, my lawyer said "next time, get hit in Prince Georges County"
You have no idea what you can get, so while you may have been happy with $15k, a lawyer might have gotten you $30k - so $20k to you.
If they just "paid off" your car then you got screwed there too.

There is, unfortunately, no way that everyone walked away from that without any aches and pains.
Go to your doctor or the ER (the ER on 118 is not as busy as Shady Grove) tonight or tomorrow. Don't say "I'm sore but it will go away" - it might, but it may also come back to haunt you years down the road.
MD law requires that the medical costs are first paid by the medical portion of your car insurance (they are then reimbursed by the at-fault party).
You are, of course, entitled to a suitable rental car even if you don't have rental car coverage on your policy.
Do yourself a favor and get an attorney - not one of those that advertises on TV and promises you a zillion dollars but look in the Washingtonian magazine (online) for a top accident lawyer. Do that now and follow his or her advice to the letter.

Yikes! That's a lot of damage. I'm glad the 4R kept you safe.

As an attorney that defends against these types of claims, it is highly likely you left quite a bit of money on the table from both the other driver’s insurance AND your own insurance even accounting for a contingency fee.
OP - glad you’re okay. Find a competent local attorney in your area and let him handle your claim.

Lawyer up now. And don't ever sign anything from the other guys insurance co./lawyer without talking to your attorney first. Also, you may have walked away but your body may not feel anything off for a few days maybe even weeks. Don't sign anything!

yes.. lawyer up.. Also, plan on taking 2 years to finalize the settlement. (Just helping you mentally prepare)
Just went through this (actually still am)..been 2 years. Guy totaled my runner, just paid off..Others guys insurance tried to give me under fair value for it so I had to prove it was worth more by show equal comps....what crap... anyway, now we are suing for medical and pain/suffering. That's what's been taking so long.. 2 years now and counting. Supposed to be over this coming Sept. but we'll see. Not holding breath.
Glad you are ok. This is a very frightening and dangerous accident.

Glad you are well, that's the most mangled T4R I've seen posted here.

Agreed..
Agree with others, get a lawyer. The insurance companies have teams of them with the sole purpose of giving you as little money as possible.
Also get checked by a Dr., if something medical comes up later they won’t take it seriously unless you were seen by a physician soon after the accident.
Also, glad you’re ok!

OP, I see folks talking about Prince George and Montgomery county. You local to DC? Your seats survive? If they did maybe we can swap out what looks like your leather ones for my cloth?

Last night was bad; soreness had turned to pain and with two previous back surgeries (including lumbar fusion) I decided to go to the ER. Xrays were normal but the doctor said it would be 2 weeks at least before i can expect to start feeling better. After that she said if still in pain I should follow up with my spine surgeon just to get checked. We leave for our family vacation tomorrow to the outer banks. Not really looking forward to the ride in the car for that long and probably won’t be able to do much during vacation. I am going to speak to a lawyer on Monday morning just to cover myself. Thanks for all the well wishes and advice
I am not going to see that car again so don’t think parting it out is in the cards.

Save every bill, you don't get to smell your ER doc's farts for less than $4000.
