I Thought It Was A Rubber Traffic Pole....It was Metal :(.

This is what happens when you assume something without checking.

I was in a parking lot and a douche next to me parked at an angle that made it difficult to reverse. I decided to go forward. There was a pole that looked EXACTLY like a floppy traffic pole, even bent the same way.

Then CRAAACK. My front bumper was messed up.

Luckily a little duct tape did the job.

Anyone have a spare silver Front lower bumper setup? Thanks in advance.

Can't imagine that damage from 1-2mph but it shows the "standard" that used to be 5 mph is worthless. Guessing your best option is a junkyard unless someone has swapped theirs out recently.

So you choose to intentionally run over a traffic barrier and you broke your car. Don't think I can muster much sympathy for you. Wonder how many douche bags there were in that parking lot.

I Thought It Was A Rubber Traffic Pole....It was Metal :(.

Was it “difficult” to reverse, or “impossible?”

Also, what in the world is a “rubber traffic pole”...and why did you think it wasn’t solid...in a parking lot?

Small word of advice: get out and inspect it next time because I would imagine assuming a line/rock/water on the trail will result in you losing your vehicle to immense damage, or worse.

Stay safe.

Because someone else thought the exact same thing, it was already “bent”.

Lol “Pro” technique for convincing significant other that “look its broken, to be safe I need to buy a metal plate bumper now” ...sorry there is no way I could resist

I ve never heard of a rubber traffic pole.

The 5 mph standard is that you bump something at 5 mph and don't get damage. This guy was on the gas trying to push through the obstacle. He was using 4 liters of destruction to drive through his "rubber" pole. Not at all the same. And the crumple zones you're scoffing at save lives in higher speed collisions every single day. Would you rather leave an undamaged vehicle for EMS to drag your lifeless corpse out of, or climb out of a completely destroyed vehicle with minor injuries? Just look at what happens in a Nascar wreck. Those cars are completely obliterated by design because that's how you protect the driver.

C'mon guys, we've all done something stupid somewhere along the line.

Actually, the bumper seems to have complied with the regs as it saved the body and critical items from damage.

“Floppy traffic pole” is not a thing. You now Google-own the term.

Let’s agree that you learned a hard lesson here. Nothing floppy about it.
