Yup! No kidding! I just did a trip to Monument Valley, North Rim Grand Canyon, and stopped by Vegas. I cleaned the radiator before putting the gutter guard on, and drove the next day. Got back home a few days ago,and was amazed how much crap the guard collected. Radiator was same as when I cleaned it. I should have snapped some photos, but forgot.
Alright I got my roll of Amazon mesh but what's the secret? This stuff seems so floppy I don't think I could put enough zip ties on it to keep it in place. Anybody find something similar but semi-rigid and not steel?
I've found a couple aluminum options if anyone cares. Less than $20 on Amazon, enough to do the bottom and top portions with some to spare. You just need to pick a opening size. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...Y7454W6S1&th=1
So here's my first section with the aluminum mesh that I linked above from Amazon. This is the 3mm x 6mm so it's relatively small but so is the wire so I can't see it restricting airflow in any significant way.
I took the top portion out to make it a little easier to do, I'm not sure if the bottom grille pops out or not but I'm doing the top first anyway. IMG_20191003_094228 by Michael Starmer, on Flickr

All done, it's attached with small black zip ties, a lot of them...
Definitely more work than I thought it would be, removing the top portion made a huge difference in how hard it was to do the bottom. I just made a cardboard template of the top and put down some painters tape on the mesh and cut it out with tin snips. The bottom was pretty much a rectangle 37.5" x 7" I think. A little tough maneuvering into the right position but once it was in there I just started placing zip ties from the middle and bottom working out towards the ends.
Forgot the close up one, altered the exposure to see the mesh and ties better. IRL they're pretty much invisible. IMG_20191003_134458 by Michael Starmer, on Flickr
