Looking good. Any concerns of getting the wobble people here talking about with swapping wheels? Its whats kept me from switching wheels.
No concerns because if they are balanced properly it shouldn't be an issue. I drove 60 miles and they felt perfect.

In stock form it's maintenance free. When you lift a 4Runner with KDSS, it can lean due to the system being out of balance, and needs to be re-balanced if you get the lean.

Thank you for letting me know. Trying to search this huge forum is tough sometimes because all the hits that come back. Glad to know I didn't make a mistake with the KDSS. I fear stuff like that breaking haha I don't plan on modding too much. Just front bumper and some wheels and tires.. I think.

If you do a slimline front bumper, without a winch, you can go with something like the Bilstein 5100 from what I understand. If you add a winch, you will want to get something a bit more heavy duty, with better adjustment capability.
If you go full bumper, you will have to really beef up the front end.
But all that can be done with a quality kit and stay under the limits of the lifts with KDSS.

I plan on doing the ToyTec BOSS when I lift mine, and one of the slimline bumpers and a 9K winch with synthetic line. Sadly, SSO is not longer doing an aluminum slimline with Hefty Fab, but Victory is now making one, so that might be the way to go. IIRC the Victory slimline is something like 30LBS, so that is a huge weight savings over steel, but its also not a strong. But from what you are implying, you don't plan on needing something like steel to bash rocks.

Thanks again for the information. Really helps.
I have been studying photos on here in my free time, and I love the looks of those tubular front bumpers. I think thats what they are called. Basically where the lower part of the bumper is lopped off and a tube is placed there instead. But looks like most of them are homemade variants that I can't buy. I have also been looking at the slimline ones because they seem readily available. No winch for me. No lift either. Ahh so no full bumper for me, it sounds like that. Thank you! Victory 4x4, got it. I love the Tacoma they did. I will check it out for sure. Sounds like I can run something that light without worrying about lifts, or hurting the stock suspension. Thats something I really want. Yeah, no rock bashing for me.
Thanks a ton for your help. I am googling your suggestions as soon as I submit this post.

I have a 2017 TRDORP with KDSS. It performs exactly as advertised. Reduces body roll on road and gives you a bit more wheel travel off road. Recently I had a non-KDSS model as a rental while traveling and the difference was striking.

As to model year, that’s a tough call with the new ones coming out but if you don’t care what the “next big thing” is, go for it!

Southern Style Offroad also has a slim line bumper.

Trail 4runner did a pretty good write up as well:

@Hydguy is spot on with the recommendations.
If you start adding weight you'll need to research options for suspensions and coil upgrades.
Although to note, there are a number of folks on this forum who did a small lift, 5100s and used stock coils and then added a slim bumper. The performance hit was small, but noticeable when braking, slight nose dip and more compression due to the added weight. In the end it all depends on what you get and how much you add to the front end.

Based on your comments thus far an aluminum bumper is probably what you're after. It's more expensive, but the weight savings can be a difference maker.
Just for context I have the full skid plate aluminum option from RCI (including gas tank and lower link arms) and have come down super hard on rocks and the aluminum did gouge out, but no cracks and no major damage. So even giving up some protection vs steel, aluminum will still hold up well if you bash it a bit.

I love the slim line bumpers, i definitely want to put one on with a winch at some point. Good to know ill have to do some work on the suspension if i do.

I guess i could get away with aluminum, but i would still want to do the suspension anyway since stock the 4R nose dives already.

Just a bit. Most of the good custom plates in California for the band are all taken. 40+ years as a band will do that I guess. Was glad to see a few options were still left to chose from.
Also have some stickers on the back.

Thanks so much for your post. Great information, and those links are awesome. Because the help from the good people of this forum I have a good idea what I want/need. Aluminum, and slim at most. I like how the 4R rides right now, and don't want to go any higher. So finding something with a little front end protection and aesthetic is what I am after. I wish I could find a nice tubular bar like some people have but that doesn't seem like it is in the cards.

I really love the "RELENTLESS FABRICATION STINGRAY LO-PRO WITH GRILLE INSERTS" in one of your links. But googling, it seems as though they don't make it anymore. Argh!
