Cooper Discoverer S/T MAXX | Cooper Tire
I stand corrected. I remember on discount tires website and on my shipping receipt from UPS it said 51 lbs. On my buddy's '16 Trail 285/70/17 with the same setup as my '18 ORP, his truck does feel slower on back to back driving. Maybe the rolling resistance played a factor.

Pro's:
- Exceptional grip offroad, airing down safety to 16psi without hesitation due to stiff sidewall
- Good fuel economy around town (16.5mpg)
- Incredible tread wear: still at 13/32 after 35k mi (18.9 new)
- only slight rubbing on mud flap, but that's it
- Spare tire fits and tucks up nicely
- Low cost (negotiated to $140/tire at discount tire when buying)
- Extremely tough sidewall, have had it completely pinched-over and never worried
- Great in snow/ice

Con's:
- Ride is unbearably stiff on-road, to the point where these tires will be replaced early
- Poor highway mileage over 65MPH due to weight (58.1lbs, 17.5mpg)
- Pulls slightly right due to the Cooper Pull (documented 255 issue)
- damp roads create grip issues

Next set of tires will be a C Load 285's solely due to the ride quality around down.

Hope this helps someone!

Ryan
I have these and love them - here is a parking lot pic makes them look small

Airing down and knowing your sidewalls are 10ply add a lot of confidence too if you wheel in the woods at all

I have 5100s at 1.75, if I were going up 3" I'd go taller personally.

I dont consider the ride stiff but have always liked feeling the road.

Also they are relatively inexpensive

If I didnt need them for the kids I'd pull the steps off to make it slimmer looking

I went with 255/75 Goodyear duratracs. So far, so good. Like them a lot without the drawback of heavier tires

Has anyone come across any 255/80s in a true winter tire? Not just the M&S rating, I mean equivalent to blizzaks or nokian hakkas?

Running the 255/75/17SL Duratracs on ours as well, I was worried they would feel squirmy in the corners but there has been zero issues with them, and I'd go with them again for the way the truck is used.
