Did your Takata recall look like this?
Had the Takata airbag recall serviced on my 2013 Limited today. My local dealership makes you bring the vehicle in to have the dash removed so they can scan the airbag, then they make you come back after the part comes in. Today they did the actual replacement, and upon picking my vehicle up noticed that the dash now looks like it has a tumor. Of course the techs were all gone by this time, so I spoke with the manager who said this is possibly what it's supposed to look like (he was not sure).
Did anyone else's look like this when they picked it up? I tried pushing down on it in case the clips just weren't seated but it seems like there's something directly underneath the dash and its bolted down.

The manager must have come from car sales. Nobody can be that stupid.
Call Toyota Corporate in the morning. At this point the car may be unsafe to drive because who knows what airbag may do.

I have a slight line on my dash where it looks like the bag was not positioned all the way down. My rear window also quit working because they left a plug in the center console unplugged.

Thanks for the input everyone. Calling corporate is a good idea. I was going to take this back first thing in the morning, but I'm wondering now if I need to get corporate involved to ensure this job is done correctly...

Holy...S$%t.
That is inexcusable.
Possibly a major safety hazard.

They are going to screw up your dash and it looks like your speaker grill isn't sitting flush either.
They need to put you in a loaner until they get this sorted (which will, most likely, require a new dash).
You could, of course, go to the GM of the dealership, show him your car and say only this "do you consider this quality craftsmanship from your service department?"
If he says "yes", then use his phone to call corporate.
If they don't want to give you a suitable loaner, then tell them to give you a letter on their letterhead that the airbag system will operate as designed.
The service manager who told you that is OK needs to be fired.

No, mine did not look like that. But, don't go in there with guns blazing and threatening to call corporate on them. Just calmly talk to the service writer first and tell him it is not supposed to look like that and you need the problem fixed. The manager just didn't know (or was playing dumb hoping you'd buy the BS). Give them the opportunity to make it right first before calling corporate. Like you said, not everyone was there when you got back to pick it up.
Also, what kinda BS are they doing when they had to pull your dash, scan the airbag, then order the parts. It's all based on VIN and vehicle location. I did not have to have mine taken apart and scanned.

I agree. I’d give them a chance to make it right before calling Toyota.
When I had mine done, I called the dealer and told them I was under the air bag recall. They scheduled my replacement during the call, no questions or pre-inspection needed. Truck came back looking just like it did when I took it in.

Can’t believe they returned the vehicle like that, it’s completely unacceptable, I’d be pissed if my dash came back like that after a recall. Good thing my buddy performed my recall and didn’t have to remove the dash.

No but the ****ers crushed my side running boards, lied about it and tried to hide the fact. Its amazing how fast Im going to small claims to pay $50 to sue your ass now, enjoy your legal bills costing $5k to represent..or pay the damages. IN the end I got a cheque for $2K. The funny bit..for them maybe was they ended up admitting that about 12 people saw the damage and it was all on camera..yet all of them lied and hid from me. The service manager even tried to say I did it. I said lets go measure your lift bars...and if the shoe fits muthar ****ar..youre wearing it...
It got ugly..then I got paid.

Call Toyota right now. This is a case of laziness, carelessness and incompetency.
