Is there a reset procedure for the rear lift gate latch? Haven't been able to find anything relevant in search.

Hi STLDAVE,
First thing I would check is the
Back-door 25A fuse D/L-2 (Door Lock) in the D/S fusebox... you may need a fuse puller or a pair of needle nose pliers to remove it for testing; or have someone hit the doorlock button with you at the tailgate listening for a click!
If the fuse is good but it won't open (NO CLICK), remove the tailgate trim panel to gain access to the lock actuator. Unplug the wiring harness and using a multi-meter set to low voltage scale (12V), check for power. The
HOT wire is
RED, and the
GND wire is white w/
BLK stripe!
Once you've checked the power source, and if it's good, You may have lost the Lock Actuator motor. This is something that you can do yourself! My truck is a 2012 LE w/23,000 miles on the clock, and I've replaced two lock motors just last month; rear driver-side, and the front passenger-side in just five weeks
!
But they're cheap, I bought them both on ebay and they cost $6 bucks each; here's the link below:
10mm D Flat Shaft, FC-280PC-22125 Door Lock Motor, Actuator Repair, Toyota Lexus | eBay
...and here's a youtube video on how to swap out the "10mm D-shaft motor":
