this is not a rub my knife can fix

adjusted my front 5100s up to 2.5 today to match the 2" all pro springs in back

put my spidertrax back on....

265/70 17 falken rocky mountains on 17x8 atx mojave..

check out the spot the shoulder edge of the tire is rubbing.. uh.. that's part of the frame..

tomorrow i'm exchanging the falken for 285/70 duratracs.. imagine that

anything i can do short of taking the spacers out?

will taking out the spacers stop the rub on the frame??

i like the wide stance.. will the 285s help the stance even without spacers? obviously not as much as spacers but just a little?

and the sh1tty part is that it only rubs on the driver side but clears on the passenger side by a hair due to the stupid lean .. im not about to take it apart to put a spacer...

side note on the alignment

the guy that does my alignments.. and he's dam good.. he's well known around here.. said that 0.6 positive camber was the most he can do with the adjustments after the lift as there's no more adjustments..

i asked for 4.0 caster.. he could only get 2.57.. understandable..

but the camber really bugs me.. positive camber? that's just not right..

all this time and money and still facing issue after issue.. sigghhhh

Body mount chops can solve that.

Body mount chop - Toyota 120 Platforms Forum

I have it done on my rig, when you get a certain tire size its necessary.

Why are you getting 285s when your already rubbing with 265s? Now how bad are you rubbing? Like half lock or full lock or whats going on? I suggest keeping the spacers on if you are getting the 285 duratracs, it'll be worse without them on with a 0 offset wheel. You should just keep all of this in one thread instead of making multiple threads.

it's at full lock.. when steering wheel turned to left the outside corner edge of tread..

wouldn't removing the spacers allow the wheel to not be as far out at full lock to left?

red is no spacer.. black is with spacer.. am i on the right track? lol

Yes at full lock you will rub, I still rub at full lock and a lot of other people do too. I'm saying with 285s, you will want spacers on those wheels or you might be rubbing on your UCA.

it's like a rock and a hard place..

should i live with the rub at full lock? just can't imagine how bad it'll be with 285s on tomorrow lol..

I do, I mean how often are you at full lock? Just adjust how you drive, you'll get used to it. Don't pull out of spots fast, I back out slowly and turn my wheel and if it starts rubbing, I just try to ignore it lol. People will stare at you and be confused lol.

As stated above, a body mount chop will fix your rubbing issue. Adjusting your caster closer to +4 will move your wheels forward and may fix the issue but you may need to trim the fender liner more. I have 295s and have not done a body mount chop. I slightly rub the mounts at full lock only when reversing, but like adio3x I'm conscious of not locking my wheels when I do so. If it bothers you that much chop your body mount or get more positive caster.

The rubbing is due to the spacers. Many on here have Mojaves which have 4.5" of backspace with no issue with rubbing, especially if we're talking about 265's. Some folks run them without lift, no issues. In addition, the Movajes have slightly less backspace that the stock wheels, so you're not going to rub the UCA. Remove the spacers and see where you are. For some perspective, running the Movajes with the 1.25" spacers effectively gives you 3.25" of backspace on the wheels, where the stock wheels have 4.75" of backspace.

With the bilsteins set to 2.5" of lift in the front, I doubt you would still rub with the 285's if you remove the spacers. If you feel the need to keep the spacers on, then you'll have to live with the rubbing (and as folks have said, avoid full lock), or chop the body mount, which my understanding is that it's really not necessary on the 5th gen unless you're looking at much larger tires (> 33") or push the tires way out with negative offset wheels, which if effectively what you've done with the spacers.

Good luck.
