2015 4Runner - Door Won't Open

Long time 4runner owner and the only complaint I've had about these vehicles are the door locks. Every model i've owned has had multiple issues.

I have a 2015 4runner and the driver side actuator went out. I started the process, removed the door panel, taking out the actuator and opening it up. I put in the new motor, reinstalled panels, etc.

I tried the lock while the door was open and viola! it worked! Great! I got inside the vehicle and tried it out and no issues whatsoever. Then I tried to open the door handle and nothing! I climb out of the vehicle and go to the outside and it won't budge as well.

I checked to ensure the rod for the handle was connected to the acutator housing and after prying the panel open somewhat from the inside, I can actually feel it's in place. My only thought is when I got inside the actuator I messed up a lever or didn't connect it back properly.

So I am stuck. I can't get the panel fully off but can feel around the actuator and inside the door. I can hear the door handle attempting to open from the inside but nothing.

I feel like I am at the point where I am going to have to take this in for service.

Thoughts?

I would just buy the entire Actuator instead of the little motor alone. Seems that few things can go wrong when taking the actuator apart and putting it back together.

I replaced my entire actuator that I got on ebay for $23 and everything was done in 40 minutes. Link for actuator below.

Good Luck.
