This thread is AWESOME! Looking forward to following the build in the future.

BTW, I've always wondered about those xterra pro4xs. Since you've had both that and the 4runner, how do they compare?

I really liked the xterra. But the aftermarket offerings were very limited. I would have kept it but the offer i got to have it bought was too good. Im glad i did. Ive been able to add alot more to the 4runner than the xterra.

Tl;DR someone whos never touched a suspension but knows how to use tools can do a solo lift on a KDSS 4runner.

I got my eibach kit installed the other day. I had to compile (steal) a few guides since i was doing this solo, no spring compressor method, with KDSS. I couldnt find one guide that had everything in one printable sheet.

There are some great insctructions and tips in the KDSS Install thread and the Antman and Sp8ball Guide thread. I compiled almost all of my info from there.

Here are some PDFs from those posts that have the pictures included.
4runner Lift Tips KDSS
Lift Install KDSS Front Suspension
Lift Install KDSS Rear Suspension
Antman Sp8Ball Install Guide

Here is the PDF i made. It has the front compiled instructions plus a Torque cheat sheet and some diagrams.

KDSS Solo No Spring Compressor Front Suspension

Ok onto what i did. I got the eibach kit on sale for 630 shipped. I liked that it was an all in one kit and i didnt have to piece stuff together. plus i read a ton of posts about not neededin a UCA with this (you dont. i got this installed and aligned with 275s with no rubbing just fine.) Disclaimer: I worked as a car tech for about 6 years doing mostly audio and remote starters but have never touched a suspension. Add KDSS and i was a little nervous reading about how you may need to bleed the system. So my goal was to not have the pistons get fully extended. this may have been unfounded but i did the install easily without having them extended so why not. As i said i had to compile a ton of info from this forum. there were alot of youtube videos that were absolutely useless. So many of them were "ok so heres the install AND ITS DONE! Phew that was tough" with no actual info. or it was someone who wanted to recreate the blair witch project.

heres some that i found helpful

Rear Spring Helper
Rear Lift Install (no KDSS)
Part 1 Fronts No Spring Compressor
Part 2 Fronts No Spring Compressor

The fronts went one pretty easy. I took a while just checking and rechecking things. the passenger side went quicker once i had experiance. I found using a pump style wood clamp helped and was much easier/quicker than trying a rathcet strap to get the KDSS bracket on.

here you can see the oem jack under the piston, the floor jack on the LCA and my woodclamp (onside on the sway bar and the other on the inside of hte LCA). the bracket is lined up at this point with no pressure. i could easily hand thread both bolts.

I followed the Rear KDSS install guide pretty close except that i detached the KDSS on both sides at the axle vs the KDSS piston/fixed arm. I had the pisto supported with a jack stand. i was worried that the KDSS piston being fully extended could cause some sort of damage and if i didnt need to have it extended id try not to. I didnt have any issue getting the bar re-attached to the axle. took 10 minutes maybe alternating jacking the oem jack on the piston and my oem jack on the diff and using a wood clamp to get it lined up.
Torque the axle bolts to 81 Ft lbs.

here you can see the clamp method. I already had a bolt in on the driver side at this point. so just clamp and play with both jacks. i didnt have to hammer anything. bolt slid easily into place.

Heres a bad after shot. I was hungry.

firestone lifetime FTW!

Heres my Torque cheat sheet

Wheels: 83 ft lbs

Front:
KDSS bracket ->LCA (2 bolts):55
KDSS bracket-> KDSS piston/fixed arm (2 bolts):30
LCA -> Sterring Knuckle (2 bolts): 118
LCA cam bolt (2 bolts with nuts):129
Shock top nut (1 nut): 18
Shock Top Hat nuts (3 nuts): 47
Shock lower bolt (1 bolt with nut): 70
Skid Plate Bolts: 22

Back:
Shock top nut (1 nut): 18
Shock lower bolt (1 bolt with nut): 72
KDSS bracket ->Axle (1 bolts with nut):81
KDSS bracket-> KDSS piston/fixed arm (2 bolts): 30
