dealer alignment question

I took my 2018 in today for my 20,000 mile service, they said I failed my front wheel alignment because of excessive toe in and they wouldn't rotate the tires, they said it's best to leave the good tires on the back. I think they are full of crap and should of rotated them (I plan on doing it myself later today). anyone ever hear of this, I know the wear isn't that bad by the report they gave me (never mind the date, it's wrong). I'm also wondering what caused this. I've added an odyssey 34R battery (54#'s) which is heavier than the factory Panasonic, a set of RGS tube sliders and 4 Goodyear duratrac tires, same size as factory tires, 265/70r/17. they said for $90 they'd fix the alignment problem then rotate the tries. are they trying to rip me off? I refused the alignment because I'm just trying to figure out what UCA I want for my lift (Toytec/Bilstein 3") which I already purchased and it's sitting in my garage. I'm not paying for 2 alignments a few months apart. any thoughts?

The new tires or good tires go on the rear. I wasn't raised that way, but that's what research proves.

Why is your front end out of whack? Potholes. You hit a curb. You hit a rock. Bad luck.
My dealer has automatic laser-blah-blah-blah-equipment and they do free alignment checks every time you show up. The free report shows every measurement in fractions of degrees, etc. It's not just a checklist.
Mine has been out of spec twice in 25k and I'm due for my free 30k oil change in a month.

My wife's '16 Avalon Touring wore out the cheap 18" factory tires in 20k and needed another alignment - at Firestone - when I had the Michelin Premiers installed.

Alignments happen.

This is a big step up from the 1986 Subaru GL wagon I used on the Outer Banks beaches for 14 years. That thing would go anywhere in the sand on 185/70-13 tires. Dual range 5 speed, factory skid plate, 3 position manually adjustable rear shocks and armored exhaust. All factory, including the white spoke wheels. The front sub frame finally rusted apart.

Alignments should be considered regular maintenance. Your tires will thank you.

How often do you have your vehicle aligned?

That's a slightly difficult question to answer as it depends on your car, your driving style and the roads you drive on.

Barring any unforeseen events, I have my car aligned annually when I swap from winter tires to summers.

It may never have been in alignment to begin with.

I complained about the alignment on my new TSX - one dealer said "not covered" and the other said "these things get tied down on the boat then bounced around, so most of the cars from Japan and Europe need an initial alignment.
