who did the remote start install?

anyways, if it's plug-n-play, quit beating yourself up since the car is brand new and under warranty, undo it and tell the dealer to fix it.

Okay so I think we figured it out. Completely uninstalled the alarm system and everything went back to normal working fine.

Apparently the Toyota has two ignition cut-off wires that have to work in a particular way as opposed to just one like most cars so the remote start being hooked up as one caused the computer to freak out I guess.

So I'm having the same problem except it feels like I lost power or maybe it is starting in fifth gear. What brand was your remote start and have you installed another? That's the only mod I've done but it's been fine and I installed it last summer. Weird that it would appear all of a sudden. Mine is an Accessorides.

Funny you bumped this old thread, just had a similar but less scary issue pop up again (no limp mode affecting the drive but same light cluster errors). I did my remote start like always, but i guess because it was super cold, or how i remote started, then shut down the remote start it triggered the same light cluster errors.

I have a Python/DEI remote start with alarm (same as before). DEI (Directed) make most major remote start alarms don't think they make Accessorides.

It appears the Toyota's CPU is sensitive to any potential issues it sees in its electronics/wiering and over reacts with christmas lights.

The codes that got thrown were:
-Position sensor A circuit
-Engine stall
-Start Ability
-Rough idling

Which were mostly meaningless (but def from remote start) since it cleared on its own and checked out at the dealer fine.

So to be safe i got a new hard drive for the remote start with a software update for Toyotas specifically. No problems since (3 weeks).

You can probably cycle your key a dozen times or disconnect the battery to rest/clear the errors.

Toyotas electronics are sound, they just don't play with others well. lol

Got my 2020 Nightshade back from the dealer about two weeks ago from its 10k service and they hadn't bothered to screw the bottom panel in. It's been getting poor gas mileage since then and this morning when I turned it on it gave flashing CEL with Trac off and front end shakes violently. Any chance it's related to the service?

All my issues were electrical due to my remote start. I'm not sure what this bottom panel you speak of is. But if its protecting electrical components it may be.

Looks like the cover over the oil drain plug. They didn’t tighten the two bolts properly. You’ve just experienced one of reasons why so many people avoid routine dealer service, and DIY or go to responsible independent mechanics.

Looks like the KDSS skid plate and that shouldn't cause those warning lights. Get gas recently? Gas cap loose?

I fear they may have forgot to put oil in? Bring it to the dealer right away.

Right, I was worried about oil too but level seems ok. I did get gas a few weeks back and just tightened the cap again just now. Could that loose cap cause the front end to shake so bad? Afraid to drive it because don't want to cause any permanent damage.

Flashing CEL is a missfire. You more than likely have rodent damage.

The Nightshade is a version of the Limited. KDSS isn't available on the Limited.

The pics aren't great, but I agree with Electroboy, it looks like the oil pan drain plug access plate wasn't properly bolted back in place.
