I put this Ram mount right into the dash. Read about it on another website, I believe it was Trail 4Runner. It really nice. I just took the dash apart, drilled a hole, and secured it with a bolt on the inside.

Proclip to the middle vent and i hooked a magnet to it, just toss the phone up there, very strong, person location. No drilling. Didnt use the little piece of 2 sided tape so I can move it around if I need to.

RAM mount with adhesive base. Trimmed to fit the taper of the panel. Used this same setup in my 4th gen. Works well and that pad is stuck solid. I like my phone mounted here for easy use and no cables hanging while charging. I don't like drilling holes in my vehicles and avoid it when possible. Phone was definitely not worth a permanent hole.

Note: I angled it in such a way that it does not block my HVAC controls and I can still use that cup holder but usually don't.

Same here, held the phone very well off roading even in rock climbing conditions.

Mine is a ram ball mount, short ram arm with a ram->17mm adapter then a Qi wireless charger. It has a light sensor that clamps down on the phone when put in the cradle, small spot on the back opens the cradle when tapped. It even has an onboard battery so it can be opened and closed with the car off. Love this set up.

Not a perfect photo, but you can see it here.

ProClip

I used to buy ProClips for all my company rigs. They are the very best but a little spendy. You have to buy a base and you have to buy the custom holder which cost about twice the others.

Now that I retired I have been trying to get by with big box store (Target and Walmart) phone holders. I’m currently using a magnet type but hate the fact that it doesn’t tilt to cut the glare and battling the charge cord.

I decided after reading a few of these posts about phone holders that I’m going back to the ProClip. Sometimes its worth buying the best with superior features. I like the base in the vent to the left side of the steering wheel and the holder tilted toward me to cut glare. I also love their holder with the charge cord built in.

Here is my set up. It's a Ram mount with 5" Tough-Track. The other ball is for future devices or a GoPro (but I havent bought anything yet). I had the Scoshe magnet mount also (see side), but didnt really like it; the phone would fall off often when I went off road. Now I just use the magnet to attach the Apple Lightning cable head when I exit the vehicle.

I've had a bunch of these. The best I've used is a Ram Mount with the suction cup on the windshield. That thing is the awesome!

With the ability to receive messages and calls on the factory radio that also has navigation, I never feel the need to look at my phone when I'm in the 4runner. I just lay it in the console.
