Would rather spend the money on Borla if I were to do it. Only plus side to this is you can pass it off as an OEM exhaust if there was ever a "noise" issue.

Straight forward install, everything lined up perfect. Should take about an hour half to do it yourself

I'm sure everyone has an idea what sounds good but.. guy at work has the Borla we both think it sounds odd. The Gibson is a pos from multiple posts across boards. I'm hoping this one sounds good as reported yesterday and I'll be a happy camper. If not it goes up for sale

It's funny. Not all of them I like, but the latest one they came out with a few months ago I'm a fan of. There's one other company I don't mind, the rest I don't like.
This TRD one isn't awful, I just wouldn't do it for that price.

I’m specifically looking forward to it being out the side. The pro I have on order will be my daily driver and I enjoy having the back window down in good weather commutes. Climbing hills fills my truck with exhaust at high RPMs. This should cut down on that for me.

I'd rather put the money towards something that will actually improve the performance of my truck offroad. To each their own though. I really want to put an exhaust on, but for that money, the performance, AND SOUND, doesn't really justify it for me. Same reasoning as a RTT, when ground tents set up and down in 5 minutes anyway and are much cheaper. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't love to have one hahaha. And ya I've done plenty of "unnecessary" shit to my truck.

Only thing I don't understand is why they decided to use a muffler that has dual inlet and outlets when they could've used a single in and out. At first we thought it was for optional dual exhaust, but after installing we realized there's no room the way it's designed. Overall, he's happy with it. Butt Dyno says it feels more responsive and torqey. The sound now matches the look
Also, forgot to mention that we did the TRD intake, and exhaust together, so that's probably why we feel more of a difference on the butt dyno

That extra pipe on the exhaust looks like they did a factory J-Pipe (Hemholtz resonator) to help prevent drone at certain RPMs. Link to an article on how they work: The cure for Exhaust Drone on the Freeway

That would make sense. Compared to my URD exhaust, the TRD one is a lot quieter inside the cab with a lot less drone even with my truck being completely sound deadened, and my friend's truck not. The URD drone doesn't bother me that much, but again, could be because of the sound deadening

A lot of time this is the case with re-using something else and making it adapt. TRD never made their systems. They pay someone to do it, sometimes the lowest bidder to get the best price behind the scenes, then dealers double that price.

I've seen this many times when manufactures offer stuff they don't make themselves. I'm not too surprised to see this, but most consumers don't know about it.

I've sold a lot of the Gibson side dual, which you can get in black ceramic, or polished. THe cool thing if you get the black tips is, the whole end section of the exhaust is all black ceramic going into the black tips. This way you don't see the silver exhaust tubing going into the tips. I also have a single rear exit system also if you don't want the dual, and you can do polished or black ceramic tip on that too.
Many are happy with this system and it's another option. I also have on a LAbor day sale right now.
Gibson 5th gen Exhaust at Burtman Industries - YES, ON SALE
Many more pics here in this thread with order link, etc. I will also have this trd system soon, but honestly unless you have to have a trd tip it's way marked upm even at my cost.

Alright we need some audio clips of this exhaust, if it's old school Tacoma sound worthy like it was stated earlier, I'll wait for the next TRD 40% off sale next year to purchase it.

Just my opinion. Had TRD exhaust on my 05 Gen 4 Runner. Nephew still driving with +200K. I have had several exhaust combinations on my Runners. The TRD was the loudest and with most drone.
Now running URD Y-Pipe in Borla. Best combination yet, least amount of volume increase, no drone and substantial MPG gains while on the road.

Are there different models for Borla? Guy at work has it and he said and I agree after hearing it. It's awful with a raspy drone
