That extra pipe is definitely a Helmholtz chamber. A really good design at that.

And Jason is a spammer. Talking down the TRD exhaust in a TRD exhaust thread with baseless claims, while not addressing the poor quality complaints about the Gibson exhaust he sells? lol

Vendor sponsors gon' vendor sponse....

I've seen this many times when manufactures offer stuff they don't make themselves. I'm not too surprised to see this, but most consumers don't know about it.

I've sold a lot of the Gibson side dual, which you can get in black ceramic, or polished. THe cool thing if you get the black tips is, the whole end section of the exhaust is all black ceramic going into the black tips. This way you don't see the silver exhaust tubing going into the tips. I also have a single rear exit system also if you don't want the dual, and you can do polished or black ceramic tip on that too.

Many are happy with this system and it's another option. I also have on a LAbor day sale right now.

Gibson 5th gen Exhaust at Burtman Industries - YES, ON SALE

Many more pics here in this thread with order link, etc. I will also have this trd system soon, but honestly unless you have to have a trd tip it's way marked upm even at my cost.

Gibson catback exhaust for 5th gen! Labor day special starting now! Video attached
My 3rd gen came with the TRD system from pervious owner but was super old and had a hole in the muffler. I know Toyota does switch manufactures and don't even know how to tell which or who made mine. I've now done the Gibson on all of my trucks and the dual side on my 4th gen V8 and 5th gen V6. The 5th gen system blew me away as it really has a V8 sound which made my day! I'm never selling any of these trucks and getting a good sound is so much more fun and the wife even approves. Nothing but praises for Burtman as he gave me a package price when I got the sprint booster.

You know, if you get 4 exhaust tips you have a quad turbo W16 engine added for free to the 4Runner.

This thread is about the TRD exhaust. Stay on topic please.

While some people don't care to know the details, a lot Toyota owners do. I SELL IT ALSO.

If you visit the 3rd gen forum you can read about the history of the TRD systems over the years going back 20 years. This TRD system is made by K&N. If someone wants the TRD I will sell it to them. It's expensive and that's fine some people fell better to have the nameplate, and others like options and there are many. Gibson, Magnaflow, MBRP, etc. I have them all. Will try to get a sound clip for everyone soon.

I wanted the Gibson but after reading in this forum for a few months, many dump it and go with something else. To much bad press on this forum.
Toyota parts ran a sale last week and trd was 650ish..not that much more

This new TRD exhaust for the 5th gen is made by K&N?

Also, do you sell the Borla Touring exhaust?

Most V6 exhaust sounds like crap. You're better off saving your money.

Then don't buy one. The ex used to tell me how to spend my money and she's gone now.

Finally got it installed, quiet as a mouse while idle, nice tone while crusing and not obnoxious when punched and didn't notice any drone. I was guessing they wouldn't design something for the stock pro that would sound like shit, I gambled and was right. While it doesn't sound like a 60s muscle car I didn't expect it to. Install was clean, quick and fit like a glove.
Someone mentioned they would only buy the tail piece for the side exhaust...It will line up perfectly, however Toyota is discouraging it. new pipe has three bolts, old one has two. You would need to cut and clamp or weld to get just the tail piece.
Someone mentioned the pipe hangs low. With Gibson and others one needs to cut the plastic behind the mud flap so it does not melt it or rub. Easy enough to do, just guessing Toyota put it lower to clear the plastic with the proper clearance.
More smiles per gallon with the runner, I like it!
Added bonus. The tip is welded so the punks won't swipe it!
