Very nice solution! So, are you starting to like the 5th Gen as well as you liked your 4th Gen?

Yes, it is starting to grow on me and I have a lot of things I want to do to it as cash and wife allow.

looks like a good stash spot for some goodies. I would avoid border crossings into Mexico to avoid customs ripping up the 4runner looking for some goods or 4 illegals nice job

looks good. I also have a third row that is rarely used. This looks like a mod that even I could do!

That looks great. I'm still waiting to see the end result of someone removing the 3rd row and making a floor as if there was no 3rd row to begin with. I would consider doing it.

I used this post old to get me started. This will show the area without seats but not finished. Pulled out 3rd Row Seats on Limited - Flooring Ideas Anyone?

Anyway, yours looks great. What did you put on the floor underneath? The carpet/rug that's in the pics? Also, any squeaks or rattles?

The black carpet you see on the front part is just what the factory has installed. In the back I just put in some sound deadner material and I found a floor matt for the house laying around that fit the front section pretty good (not shown). If I can find some black carpet at a good price I may finish it off but I am happy with it as is for now. On the top section on top of the plywood I have the factory carpeted mat and my huskyliner on top of that. I also found some Rubbermaid plastic containers that fit real nice to keep things organized and can be removed from the front section behind the 2nd row seats without lifting the top to get to them. This is still kind of a work in progress for me. There are no squeaks or rattles. I have it bolted down with the shown brackets. Under the plywood on the aluminum frame I have felt pads to cushion the plywood.

Frame Measurements
Thanks for sharing this!
Super inspired to find others with the same idea, knew I could not be the only one.
Would you mind sharing the measurements of your frame you made?
Am planning to make a similar design using 80/20 to the same type of outcome.
Thank You!

The aluminum angle aluminum and plywood came from Lowes. The whole frame and plywood only weigh 4-5 lbs. and can easily be removed by taking out 2 bolts on the shown bracket. The picture with the huskyliner shows the liner I kept from my 03 to show you can not tell from the outside there is storage under the floor. I did not hinge the plywood so that I can open it from front or rear. Smaller items can be hidden out of site by sliding the 2nd row seat forward and putting them in the front opening.

Do you have the dimensions for that? Curious how high you had to go to make it flush to the oem plastic kick plate there on the back.
Did you install OEM latches to open the panels up with dual hinges?

I do not have the dimensions. If I get a chance I will clear some of the stuff out of the way and measure it.
After the pictures were taken I removed the rear flip up floor sections. They were a pain opening the wrong way. I just cut out plywood panels that I can easily lift one section at a time for access. No hinges at all now.
