Recoat Stock 4Runner Rims

Has anyone recoated their SR5 or TRD Off Road rims? Not plastidipping them but getting them sanded down and recoated professionally?

I recently had a set of rims powder coated. They look great and are wearing well. A good powder coating shop will have a huge selection of colors and finishes to choose from.

I wouldn't mind sending mine out to be repainted similar to the current TRD Off Road wheels, only with matte black instead of gloss black.

I have had things powder coated with great results but not cheap. You may also want to get a quote from a wheel/rim repair shop just to compare pricing. Have had wheels/rims repaired as well and they came out great.

I've had both my 2016 Trail wheels and 2019 TRD Off Road wheels powder coated. Happy with the results both times. I think the Trail/TRDOR wheel is one of the best looking truck wheel options that exists when used with 1.25" wheel spacers.

I wouldn’t do gloss or matte. I would do a satin color for ease of cleaning

**** that looks really good.

Don't bedline your wheels unless you really enjoy deep cleaning each wheel often. I thought I was an innovator until the first time I power washed them and they where still dirty af. I will likely get a set powder coated when I go up in tire size if I can't settle on something aftermarket.

I love the angle of your front bumper. Is that a simple cutting job? Any tips?

Very easy to do. I just measured down from the fender to just before the edge of the front fascia. I kinda used the SSO instructions as a guideline but didn’t go as high of a cut.

Used painters tape to make my cut reference. Cut below the tape and used a orbital sander to make my way to the tape line.

Incredibly clean work. Thanks for the description. If I get the courage to do it, I will be sure to let you know how lopsided it turned out haha
