What genius thought it was a good idea to random the back button in Entune

When I am listening to music on a USB device, and I have random function selected, if I forward a track and I accidentally skip over a track I wanted to listen to, clicking the back button won't take you back to that song.. it will randomly pick another song. WTF Toyota??

I'm pretty sure there were no geniuses involved in the development of Entune.

yes, I do but like many other devices, hitting the back button will take you back to the track you just skipped over.

This is something that bugs me too. I listen to my ipod via the USB input or a flash drive. Ipod doesn't shuffle backward but does forwards. Flash drive shuffles both ways. Its frustrating.

This really is an annoying feature. Also sometimes when I am listening to a podcast and shut off the 4Runner....come back and start it up....when it connects to my phone it just starts playing something super random from god knows where till I unlock my phone....then it goes back to the podcast.

Admittedly, I don't have an entune system, I don't use my phone/mp3 player much for music.

So I think I'm missing something........

This seems like it's normal operation to me. You have the random function on.
You hit forward, it RANDOMLY selects the next track.
When you hit Reverse shouldn't it also randomly select a track as long as random is still selected? Doesn't matter if if your going forward or backward in reality you're skipping all around anyway.

As long as random is on, theoretically there should be no pattern or predictability.

And to really bore the audience, check this out.
Can a computer generate a truly random number?

Sorry, I only listen to legit radio stations on my T4R's radio. Not a music junkie.

No such issues with Bluetooth streaming or phone connected via USB. Weird. For as unpolished as Entune is, it at least mostly works. My wife’s MINI always picks randomly from the 7000 songs in the library when the car starts, the steering wheel buttons for previous and next track almost never work but the buttons on the radio itself usually do. Once we select downloaded music only (1000 songs), the buttons seem to work OK.

Lets be honest, entune is terrible. From a tech perspective a game boy is better.
