Swapping SPC for TC?

It’s been a real pain around the Boston area to get a good alignment on my vehicle. King Coilivers, SPC UCA. First a local shop, second Direct Tire which I was a big fan of. 3 failed alignments there and even gave them a what to do write up. Was up north of the White Mountains last weekend. Some moderate off-roading and camping and fishing. This week I’m on the cape. Nauset Beach sand dunes. Heard an odd noise under drivers side and the top nut had come loose and my camber was nuts. Maybe they didn’t torque to 150 or my guess they didn’t even seat the bottom plate correctly. Hi-lift and set back as close as I could by me. Now my alignment is all F’d up. With all the PITA shi$-bag shops around Boston that have no clue how to align the SPC UCAs, I may pull the trigger on the total chaos and make the alignment a little “simple” for them. Love the adjustability of the SPC. Unless you can find a shop familiar with them it’s been tough. Local shop adjusted for toe only. Direct tire had zero clue.

Loving the kings tho.

Just set the SPC UCA's where you know they can dial in the correct numbers for your alignment and then just let them use the lower control arms to align your vehicle just like any other time. You set the SPC's and tell them not to use them for alignment. This will make it super simple for them. I am sure you can find some setups pretty close to yours on here that use SPC's so you will know which setting to set them on before taking it to an alignment shop. I went with JBA's for the reason of simplicity and I am around 5* caster on both sides. 4.7 driver and 5.2 passenger, along with everything else being in spec. That's the route I would take if you change out from SPC. I agree though about alignment shops... there is one around every corner, but only 1 in 100 knows what the hell they are doing!

total chaos isn't easier to adjust if the alignment tech doesn't know how to adjust them. Even where I live, most alignment shops have no idea how to adjust TC UCA. I have to take it to an offload shop if I want them adjusted properly.

Well I’ll find out. In terms of TC vs SPC....there is no messing with the UCA on the TC. You get the castor you get. So for some dumb ASS tech they can carry on as usual. This isn’t my daily, but I don’t have the time to go through 10 different alignments.
