I’ve used both. They both improve gas mileage a little but Marvel does a better job keeping your engine clean. I watched a video on YouTube where this guy tested multiple engine cleaners such as Chevron Techron, Lucas and Marvel and Marvel came out on top but Lucas also did well. My personal opinion is Lucas seem to improve gas mileage a bit more but Marvel will keep your engine a little cleaner. Both are good.

Marvel mystery Oil is primarily Naptha with some additives, It has been around longtime, I remember my grandfather using it crank case , motor oil back then was not multi weight and would often cause hydraulic lifters stick . Naptha has some serious detergent qualities so this will clean injectors as well

Lucas is a refined petroleum product like Marvel more similar to 2 stroke fuel additives. You will notice some viscosity when pouring into fuel tank. I like Lucas Products; but since NASCAR affiliation the stuff got kind of expensive. Here in MD like $34 per gallon at Walmart.

So I find MMO to due a great job at a better price. Longtimeengr

I’ve been noticing what seems like to me is a weird rattling noise at startup when the engine is cold. And even when accelerating. It completely goes away once the engine warms up. To me it sounds like piston slap. But hoping I could get all of your input on it. Hoping to hear where there or not any of you experience this same thing.http://https://youtu.be/QaJfCV0Dtrw
I have a 2020 4Runner with 43k miles and it makes a weird noise while accelerating while it's cold too. Like it's fluttering or wings are flapping. Once the engine is warm, the noise goes away when accelerating.

We have a 2014 with 369K miles on it. I have tinnitus and can no longer hear the turn signal click, so wife is constantly telling me to turn it off. I say what noise in the engine?

Use Valvoline Restore and Protect 0w20. Nothing better. Toyota oil loaded with moly does nothing.

The 4.0 is just a noisy engine. Check out "The Car Care Nut" on You*ube, he's a Toyota mechanic with his own shop.

Overseas the 4.0 is approved for up to 20w50, I'm currently using 5w30 and it has quieted down a lot. (this is in the 2013 FJ, same engine, but I also used 30 in the 2015 'Runner I had with similar results)

I have a '23 Limited I bought new last September. Did the first two oil changes at 500 and 1000 miles using Toyota 0w-20, engine had a slight valve train tick more so than my other cars but not too big a deal. The next two changes I switched to Amsoil Signature 5w-30 and it quieted right down, now all I hear are the injectors firing at 11k miles. It's probably still breaking in so this might change over time.
